Sure, at least getting our pick back for Sami. Not sure if hes a one-way or how the taxi squad works, but Id be fine with sending up 83 or have him follow the team bus in a yellow cab

Speaking of that, the second reason they are struggling is because they get gassed as the games wear on.  It's why they've given up multiple goal leads (as many as 3 goals several times) this year for losses or near losses.  Their legs are rubber by the 3rd period and younger teams skate circles around them.  It's amazing that management, far from addressing the situation, has actually made the team older with guys like Chara, Shultz and Lundquist.  Having a shortened season will help but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they faded and missed the playoffs altogether.

In general Id agree with you, but, this is the Caps that have been in "win now" mode, & that being "make the playoffs and well have a chance for 15yrs.

Right now, I cant name our top D prospect, mostly because we let our last one walk, so we arent letting prospects rot, we don't have any.

For the vets on D, meh. Its a team with a new coach in a fucked up season so we dont have much time to develop young Dman.  We needed guys who could step right in, and younger UFAs would have costed more than the cap mess we are in can afford.

What will get give him hell for is the forwards he brought in. Carr, Sheary, Sprong, and the frog we brought in this weekend who played his first NHL game at 30, none of them are above 6' or 200, or have or CAN play D worth a damn. Hathaway is 10x the player any of them are.

Normally, id say bring up Axel, McMicheal, and Leason up now.  However, as much as i hate it, we aren't in a place to develop young players effectively now.  Granted the Lolipop Guild GMBetaMale brought in instead of real players, sans Sheary, havent played many more games than the rookies, they have been able to drink for more than a year or two.

But yes, Ive been saying we should have prioritize the future more for years.  So the question needs to be who is really ready to risk the playoffs for a few years, & loosing some "names", to correct Teds & Dickless Patricks marketing scheme?

We lose a couple games and now the sky is falling. Same old story around here. Relax people. It's a new system and we've had boatloads of injuries. If any of you guys (and girls) were GM you'd be making a trade every time someone has a bad game. Pretty hard to win games when your second line is sheary, eller and panik. This team is deep and when healthy they are solid.
Giving kuznetsov away would be a mistake. He should have won the Conn Smyth when we won the cup and if you actually aren't biased because of your hate for him, you'd admit that as well. He's a gamer and has been our best player in the post season almost every year (except last, they all sucked it up)

Samsonov has tones of trade value. Let him settle back in and knock the rust off. He hadn't played since last March. We need him and Vanecek this year and Anderson should be put on waivers. Keep the better of the two at the end of year and trade the other for picks and prospects so that Seattle doesn't take one of them instead of Oshie.
Orlov also isn't as bad as many of you believe but I do think he is expendable. If the caps can move him at the deadline for picks and prospects, I could see some non playoff teams being interested in him then (Detroit or Buffalo) or possibly Winnipeg for some depth on their roster as I see them as a playoff team but they need some help in front of Hellebuyck.
If Caps can move Orlov's contract and Oshie gets picked up by Seattle, that will be around 10M in cap space relief.
Trading one of the young goalies and Orlov would fetch a decent return.

Agree with most of these sentiments.

My comment was going to be...as much as we hate the lazy Kuzy.....We DO NOT HAVE A CUP without him (the great Kuzy)...past or present.
