so far the Caps have interviewed Gallant and Babcock, no word yet on any other interviews or decisions

I think they interviewed Lavi too not too long ago.
I don't want Babcock. While I appreciate that he's probably the most "old school tough ass whip-em-into-shape type coach" I feel like he would NOT mesh well with our group. I'm sure many of the personalities on our team would get tired of him very soon.
Gallant or Lavi IMO. I'm a little concerned about some statistics stating that Lavi hurts team offense, but Gallant has also had some quick exits that we don't seem to know the ins and outs of. Otherwise, they are both experienced coaches and I wouldn't be disappointed with either of them.
We need a coach who can instill a culture of accountability, get people to play tough, take full advantage of our offensive talents while stopping the hemorrhaging of our defense. I don't want a Dale Hunter type who is going to focus only on defense. We have weapons, might as well use them. During the Trotz era we scored a ton, but also played a heavy and defensively responsible game. I'd like to return to that.

After watching him in The D for years, Babcock will be about the LAST one I want, and probably vise versa. I listed a few reasons in the Reidon thread, but in short, there's to much cap on too many players, cough 92,74, that won't gell. . .Id even include Wilson as Babcock all but hates real man hockey.
With letting an elite goalie walk, having two of of the biggest cap hits being overrated lazy pre-maddonas, and Ovie being Jekyll & Hyde when it comes to coaches, the time for a Coach to be this teams messiah is gone.
Besides, even if a coach somehow manages to win another Cup, they'll just let him walk that summer.

They really should of had Suzy, Vargana and Carlson do the interviews so they can tell GMBetaMale what do as usual.
