Elliot has had front row season tickets damn near since his first year in town, he used to always interview Ted and the guys in the morning and they talked like good friends do, not like he just some dumb dj. I say used to because I haven't listened to Elliot in a few years, only because I don't need to get up at 5am anymore and at 9 I turn on Cris plante. Point is, Elliot seemed to have an inside ear to the club.
I hope Ted has finally learned sports is a different animal than AOL was and he needs to not be afraid to fire people
Yeah, I know Elliot was "cozy" with the Caps. The context was just ....talking and not really like he had discussed it, but the bright side is AT LEAST the media (and one of whom actually is a Cap fan) is stating publicly that Todd needs to go. You get enough bad press public talk and.....well eventually you change the name of your franchise
Seriously I hope it amounts to something. I'm all for giving a guy a chance, but I think if you really want to win another Cup, you need a major influx of change from a well respected coach. Even then, I afraid it's too late for this team. All the guys are aging and the contracts swelling. Ovi seems to be able to maintain a reasonable high level of play, but he can't really burn around the D and break to the net anymore. He has made strides in other ways to score, but age is going to catch even him pretty soon.
If we could get a little more from our younger guys and 3/4 line guys, the team would be better off.
We do have Willy and Kuzy both still relatively young. If they could get Kuzy on target again - he can make a huge difference.
And for THIS year...WHY the FUCK are they not planting themselves in front of the net. I mean the 5v5 scoring is atrocious. The PP goal the other night was direct result of big Willy standing in front and putting himself in Varly's way.
Did they NOT learn from their SC year that crashing the net, crowding the net, etc results in playoff success.
THe more I watch them play (this playoff) the more I point the finger at Tod. Not really my style, but the team looks lost on the ice. We have no momentum, no effort, no hustle. We are not as slow team-wise as the play appears. We get beat to EVERY puck. The Islanders are truly tough to play against but they are not as great as we are making them appear right now.
We are losing to them in every aspect of the game except maybe PK....and THAT mostly because we get 5, 6, 7 penalties a game.
Doesn't look pretty. The guys just don't look ready or willing. That's a staff problem, not just a player problem. Nobody gets an excuse, but maybe the players are as confident in Tod as we are?
And for crying out loud - get somebody in front and shoot the fucking puck. 15 shots a game isn't going to cut it. Crash the net....Hit that fucking guy....beat him to the puck you bunch of sum bitches.
Go Caps
