Teddys always been content with just “having a chance” at a Cup, with the primary focus being on drawing crowds and excitement.

I dare say the next three years will look like this year combined with 2005-2009 again, with the message being “come watch Ovie” not “win another Cup”

You may be right and that will wear on the fans rather quickly since they've now tasted a Cup.  Post Ovie, if this team isn't built to win, they won't draw flies.

there are coaches that are much more effective as assistants, and there are coaches that are brought up too soon, I'm thinking Reirdon is a combination of the two...

then there are guys like Oates..

Really? Washington has tuned into a popular team. The younger generation there has grown to like hockey. The team will always draw fairly well regardless of what happens after Ovie is done. It's like basketball in Toronto. It's become a staple to the community.

I do like that EVERY time I watched him last night, Hagelin was hustling back on D.  He'd rush up ice and then haul ass back to get in the D play.  Maybe it was more noticeable last night because there were SO many PK's for him to play on, but it was during 5 on 5 where you see his hustle 100% of the time in BOTH directions.

Kovie hasn't had much impact.  I am a bit surprised I see him hitting more than I expected, but offensively speaking we have not seen much there.  Time will tell.

Oh, and Carlson sucked last night.  I know Puck is gonna argue that, but....Carlson sucked.  :raspberry:
He just does NOT use his size to an advantage.  He tried to lift check a guy instead of just muscling him out of the crease.  His lift missed and the guy had a tap in.  Pathetic.  But that was pretty much the whole team last night
Actually I was thinking Holtz was looking pretty sharp and his game has certainly improved.  But....you can't let in 5.  Not even when you have D like ours.

Oh, and Willie looked like he at least had some fire last night.

We got screwed on penalties and the bounces certainly did not go our way, but we also did not work hard enough to compete with, much less beat Philthy the way they have been on tear as of late.

I'm sure once we get into the playoffs, we will pick it up and be a real contender.  The Caps will just "turn it on" and will be that great team we hope they can be. ::) Cause the playoffs is like the Caps' home on the range (where the mermaid and unicorn play...)

Rich I am completely hurt and offended that you badmouthed my John Carlson!😂🤣😂🤣😂
