I do not think the Caps are playing poorly.  The Jets are playing well.  I like our game and it's just a matter of time.

Poor Sammy.
 Hardly any defensive energy out there. When Winnipeg enters our zone we just become all Keystone cops on defense. We are also fortunate that Winnipeg is not shooting that accurately right now.


 I mean you look at the defensive effort in our zone, how long the shenanigans have been carrying on, and you just wonder what the hell has Rierden been doing for these last couple months??

All the top lines want to do is play transition style. No work, no D, nadda.. 1 and done.. Skate back to their end and run around waiting for the next shift. And someone's neutered Wilson. He's a shell of his former dynamic self. Little hitting, no fighting.. Team has zero energy unless the 3rd or 4th line is on the ice. It's annoying really..

Twice as sadly, Mick, I’m beginning to agree, and I mean as an OVERALL good team!
In the past few seasons, when they’ve had these 2nd half season slumps,  we would always get several really dominant wins, sandwiched in between the low effort/complacency stuff, so as to at least give us fans a feeling that they still had the season generally under control.


 But it’s starting to feel different this time. We’ve had our wins,  but hardly any of them have felt like good solid wins, many of them coming from behind, or lucky wins, and so on.


 The caps overall play since before Christmas can be characterized generally as more random and chaotic, with small flashes, showing themselves OCCASIONALLY,  where our wins and losses are more like a coin flip than anything by design on the CAPS part!


 I don’t like it. Not at all. I’m hoping for this stuff to start picking up pretty quick, but I’m not that optimistic about it, like I have been in the seasons past!

Another thing that feels different than the last several seasons, is that in prior slumps, when we had that good, strong win, the team seemed to return to winning form for a good stretch, then maybe drop
down again, for a few, then press on with another good stretch, etc.


This time, I expected at least a short, decent string of 4-5 wins, after the VERY FEW solid wins we’ve had since our continual mid December slump......THEY'VE NEVER REALLY COME, so far.
 We’ve had a couple big wins in the last two months, only to be followed by another stretch of weak, lackluster games of the 50/50 win-loss type!  Very disappointing so far!


 Hoping for a turnaround, AND QUICK!!
