Yea, similar hit, but safer barriers and hopefully the seat/belts didn't fail tonight.. Keep hearing speculation that he was awake when transported, but nothing official..

ArJunaZ:
I pray he is fine, but I saw the car on TV after the impact. The roll cage precisely where his head was is partially collapsed.  As you can see from the photo he took a hit as directly to the head as you could possibly manage.  That there is no word yet is not promising.  Also, that they put up black screens to block the view and sent the media away is telling.

Saw the same interview too, AJ! Very interesting!
Oshie always gives a straightforward, honest, and humble interview!
Dishing out credit to others when things go well, and talking about what HE could’ve done better when the things don’t go well!

Although I’ve had a general idea of which players play “leadership” roles, in the locker room, Oshie actually NAMED them, individually, in the interview, blaming the teams troubles, not on the coaches, but squarely on the shoulders of the players, mainly emphasizing the “leadership” failures!

He named the “leadership” players as, himself, Ovi, Backy, Carlson, and Holtby!
It really came off to me, as a sort of backhanded “callout”, whereby Oshie, calling HIMSELF out, as the FIRST example, felt comfortable enough then, to mention his fellow team leaders!

It makes sense to me, now that I think about it, that within this micro-group, is where the “less effort” business may start, come warm up, and game time!

It’s easy to envision, a good handful of our other players,  especially some of the younger ones, looking to see just how our team leaders come out and start the game, on their first few shifts!

And then like a rapidly spreading infection, the “less than” energy level, flows quickly down the ranks,  to all but a few of our most exceptional full-time hustlers, and we are ROUTINELY down a goal or two, after the 1st period,  AND WE WONDER WHY??? (That’s the ridiculous part!)

Conversely, when these same team leaders suddenly turn on the afterburners, the same rapid, infectious, spread occurs,  and to be honest it’s pretty incredible to watch, how these SAME BOYS can absolutely OVERWHELM the same opponent they were just skating against, prior to the turnaround!!

Between these four or five team leaders, the funnier thing is, I don’t think it has to be ALL of them, SIMULTANEOUSLY, playing at a lower level!  It can be just one or two of them, but at different times, because, for the rest of the team, different guys, look up to different leaders!

So, therefore, just imagine all the different combinations, of the ways in which these “less than” playing levels can manifest themselves!!

NO WONDER,  it’s so hard to figure out just exactly, the WHY, and WHEN, they occur!  OR the opposite, the WHY, and WHEN, our sudden ability to completely DOMINATE, shows up!

I believe Mr. OSHIE gave us a little bit more insight tonight!
