And while we are blowing up the team cause we suck (ahem....1st place in the NHL).....

No doubt Jensen has not been good this year.  The giveaway on the 1st goal was comical.  I watched it again, and he was trying to rag time or something and then fumbled the puck and then almost recovered and then disaster.  I could not figure out why there was no other Cap not anywhere close to the zone.  Fucking Orlov was BEYOND the redline going up the wing...past Ovi like it was a 4 on 1 (except WITHOUT the puck...HELLO)

Kempney has looked solid since his return which is good, but had a bad game yesterday.  Mostly I think he has been pretty good (for his value)

Gudas has been better than expected IMO.  I liked the acquisition because he was a tough, hitting, hard-nose kind of d man this team sorely needed.  I just thought he was well past his prime, but he has played better and more minutes than I figured we'd get from him

Carlson - has sucked ass the last few games... at least.  And I mean as a defenseman.  He has totally given away the puck several times....badly.  I mean it happens to everyone, but lately he's been especially good at it.  He reminded me of the "old Dylan" I used to despise.  IT's funny cause I remember Locker (part of the PR machine) saying the other day "Carlson hasn't had a bad game in forever" and I was like huh?  He had just been a minus 4 the previous game and had been terrible.  I was like, Damn Locker is seriously on the Kool Aid.
The SHG last night was Carly's giveaway.  Kuzy probably should not have put it up to the point to Carly, but Carly puts it right on the guys stick (as he is about to get hit....hmmmm)
I recall watching the previous game and seeing the same exact thing, but at center ice  He just turned it over and then just watched.  I know with his amount of ice time, he is going to get his share of opportunities to be in the spotlight (both good and bad), but he as been a turnover, bad-decision, machine as of late.
What bothered me about the one a few games ago, was he made the bad turnover pass, and COULD have made an effort to back check and get back into the play and catch maybe the second or third man, but did the opposite....just stood there and watched an odd man rush develop and score.  I've seen it several times over the last several games.  I honestly wondered if he were ailing a little because it seemed so obvious...his lack of effort or inability to get back in the play.  I started thinking that a couple games ago, because he honestly has been better this year (and I mean defensively).  Nobody is arguing his offensive onslaught this year.

Holtby - after watching the very abbreviated highlights replay of the game, Holtby DID make some solid stops.  The replay certainly doesn't tell the whole story, but he did make some good stops. I think it was the 2nd goal (tying goal) that I though he probably should have had.  I mean Oshie was screening him, so nobody really knows.  If you don't see it, you don't see it.  My recall of the game was that he wasn't great, but again, not hanging this on him....just wishing for a couple more 10 bell saves when you need them (or maybe some 2-3 bell saves would be good)

Hope this doesn't turn into a full fledged "sky is falling" kind of slump, cause I'm really not that guy and hate when we all start whining about how bad everything is and it's time to blow up the team (ahem....1st place in the NHL)

It is however and always will be okay to still rag on Dylan though  :snicker:

I’m gonna ask again as the question was never answered the last time because too many people assumed. If Carlson only had the team average goals for defensemen, which is less than 5, would he still be considered a Norris candidate??

NO, now quit asking..

Holtby always makes -some- good saves.. He also usually has a softy throw in. It's become fairly standard the last couple years, unfortunately.

Ya know, Mick,Just thinking about it a little bit, you’re right on Holtby!
The same guy, in the SAME GAME, can make some really incredible saves, and then something that an amateur would stop, he lets go by! Go figure!

I think I saw more giveaways and bad passes in that game than the rest of the season combined.

Jensen seems to have fallen in love with skating with the puck (yes he is a good skater) and he just gets himself in trouble.

Ziggy actually is our most solid defensemen that doesn't seem to make stupid plays nearly as often.

Finally, the drop-pass on the PP just drives me nuts.  Not only is it not effective, but it just sets a lackadaisical tone - no sense of urgency - especially when Dylan is executing it.

agreed, but the guy totally embellished it.  Orlov got his stick between the guys legs and you can see him squeeze his thighs together to hold the stick and just fall to the ice.  From the refs point of view, you have to call it, but watch the replay in slo-mo and you see why Orlov is upset on the call.

Stupid penalty anyway, but we know Orlov is prone to stupidity on occasion.  Bad timing though.
I also noted that Orlov's penalty was a total sham.  I would LOVE to see the league start suspending players for blatant antics like that.

It's kind of like the insanity that spews from the mouths of Democrats. For so long we accepted their stupidity and they therefore kept cranking up the insanity until we arrive at the mind-boggling idiocy we hear from them today, which is ruining the country.  If we continue to allow the players to fake almost anything to draw a penalty we will ruin the game.  Besides being boring it is one of the reasons I won't watch FIFA soccer.  It's tough to watch big tough NHL players in a manly sport acting like a Sidney Crosby.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

It's funny, I was just thinking you (well I) don't hear much hype about Cindy anymore.  Now that his biggest fan is gone from NBC games.  Maybe he doesn't get as much ass kissing press?

And I am so tired of fucking Doc Emeryboard grating on my nerves by adding a couple extra syllables to Vranna's last name.  IT's TWO syllalbles dickhead.  Just like it is spelled. Vranna.  There are no extra vowels between the V and the r.

I'll be happy when every last one of that NBC NHL crew is gone.  It seems almost every sport NBC hosts is manned by douche bags.  I remember too when NBC took over Formula One racing from SPEEDTV how dreadful it was to watch.  Coming from England where I watching Eurosport's coverage I thought SPEEDTV sucked when I first watched it. I had no idea it could get worse.
My heart always sinks when I see the Caps game is on NBC or NBCSN.

could be worse, we could still be hearing Bearakowski by the Caps own radio announcers

Just stop.

This is a hockey site, not a political site.  You know as well as I that there are as many people who would say the same thing with "Republican" in place of "Democrat."  It is mindless, generalized hate like this, from whatever side it comes, that poses an existential threat to the foundations of the U.S. Republic, because it undermines trust of We the People in each other.

I put you on block a long time ago, and only reveal your posts when I think that your post may add to the hockey discussion, as it usually does when you stick to hockey.  I suppose I will simply have to ignore you entirely, as much of a shame as that is.
