PUCKNRUSH:
I actually met Rob Carlin last year in PWC lounge, during intermission at a game!
Nice guy, but yes, the male make up was very heavy!
Mickstix:
#Johnny4norris :snicker: Laugh all you want, but he's the front runner at the moment.. :uh-huh: :raspberry:

Rush, (aka molasses thumbs), here, attempting to keep pace on the GDT!
In the heavily popular, “lip service” world, that NHL coaches have to play in occasionally, with the media, It is so cool to witness, in real time, evidence, proving that an aspect of something they’ve been working on has now began to bear fruit!!
Enter coach Rierden, and his declaration, during preseason this year, that the coaches would be working with John Carlson on his offensive skills!!
A few seasons ago, had I witnessed a goal similar to John Carlson‘s 2nd goal tonight, I would’ve blabbed on about what a crappy defenseman when he was, and spouted off something along the lines of “even a blind squirrel, gets a nut sometimes”, or any other analogy that would fit!!
Simply put, John Carlson has obviously put the time in, AND Rierden had the foresight to make the call, to allow special training time at practice, for it to happen!!
Hands down, this training has really paid off!!
In my opinion, I don’t think there’s anyway JOHN Carlson would have made that kind of quick, and coordinated move, to make that goal, just a couple seasons ago!! NO WAY!!
Kudos to both Rierden, and Carly for a nicely coordinated job well done!!!
(Ok, he’s still a defensive pussy, BUT THATS NOT THE POINT)!!😁😆😁😆
Every month, John Carlson continues to show the value he is to this team!

Well, as usual, I started watching the game late.....20m or so after actual start and caught up by the end of the first.
Caps look sharp in the first....that's about all I can say as I slept through the rest.
I see the Carlson for Norris campaign is now in full swing. Only a matter of time I guess.
I'm not knocking Johhny, he has improved his overall game and certainly is having a record season of offense so kudos to him. I realize the game is changing and you need puck moving D men who score, but we need a different trophy for the most offensive d-man, then one that claims the best DEFENSEMEN
Wonder what guys like Rod Langway feel about o-guys like Johhny Q leading the pack for the Norris.
I think I'd really be okay with calling Johhny Q "the most offensive Dman in the league" :snicker:

I’m definitely with you on that, Alta!
The scary reality though, with todays’ NHL, It’s not like the Norris goes to the guy with the most hits, or blocked shots, or takeaways, anymore. It’s getting more like he just has to have the title of “defenseman“. Whether he’s a fourth forward or not.
Offensive points matter, for the Norris trophy! Now isn’t that a paradox??

Rich just said what I'm thinking. There should be two different trophy's for dmen, like the Rocket and Hart for forewards. The Norris goes to the leagues top defenseman. I don't expect a top defenseman to have a lot of points/goals. Johnnys game has definitely improved, but on the offensive side more than the defensive side. If he weren't scoring would he still be getting all this praise from the media? Or would he be scorned for being an overpaid dman
