Backstrom and Caps talking new contract.

I've read that the caps and Backstrom have started talking about an extension. I was thinking something around 7.5-8 mil would be fair over 3 years. What do others think? I feel like if backstrom is resigned, holtby certainly will not be and may not be regardless.

canadiancapman:
That was 7.5-8 mil a season for 3 years

Yep, GMBM has screwed the salary cap.  His overpaying for too many years is gonna cost is Holts for sure, and will make resigning, or signing RFAs and/or UFAs very difficult.

As they’ve all but written off Holts, this leaves us relying on two young/rookie goaltenders, with almost 16 mil spend on two players that can’t play D.

Ozzies09tc:
A. Jake Allen will be available

B. Which player is most likely stolen by seattle?

Carlson and Orlov play D.  Don't you listen to the experts?  Carlson is our Norris candidate for crying out loud?  :raspberry:

Oh....wait....did you not mean Carlson as part of that 16mil you mentioned?
