Coaches Under Fire

Babcock and Peters becoming social media targets

These players need to learn to respect their coaches.  The instances of the coach not acting in the players best interest (which is also there’s).   If these players where good enough men, the coaches wouldn’t need to resort to this, and the players wouldn’t need to do this to make a name for themselves.

These players should get booed off the ice in their own rink,(if they aren’t scratched anyway)

If a coach, or boss, asked me who the rank the hardest to lowest working players/coworkers, I’d list myself last.  The reason being is you can never work hard enough and that’s message you want to coach to know.

Second, I’d accept and go after anyone on the team who didn’t like it.  Be all over them every drill, hit the hell out of em and turn into what a pussy slacker would call a “bully”.

This was clearly designed to motivate and groom Marner into a leader, but the only thing he’s leading is twitter followers

Generational thing?  Fucking Hell yea.  My generation would not be running to twitter or WTF ever to report the coach was fucking mean to me.  My generation would be fucking ashamed of losing because we did not man up enough to suck it up, give our absolute all and win, and secure the job of a coach who knows 100 fucking times more than what my dumb ass knows about hockey you fucking lightweight mother fuckers.  And what the F does an Indian (dot not feather) know about hockey?  What?  Is there even an ice machine in India, much less a hockey rink?

Oh.  Sorry....was that out loud?

I hereby apologize to any libertards who I have offended with my less than PC spew on this subject.

Oh, and for those who I have offended...It's a fucking message board where people speak their biased opinons...so if you don't like my right wing old man macho bullshit on this particular subject, then just block my message. (and blow it out your ass while your at it)  ( and your ass is probably WAY TOO loose from all the dicks that have been in it.  8-0

Wait....did I go to far?

meh...its a freaking message board.

I saw this VA license plate this weekedn - "I luv Trump".  It was in the parking lot of my conservative church, where people gather to worship GOD.  Go figure.
The funny thing is....the car belongs to a woman.  She might just be more man than me.

ummm....  this isn't a "these players need to respect their coaches" kinda thing... this is a "racial slurs from the coach to a young player have no place in this sport" kinda thing

Edit: this is for the Flames/Peters' thing

In regards to Babcock...he's a prick that walked into a stanley cup team that one when a monkey could have been the coach, and two a gold medal when stevie wonder couldve coached the team to a gold. Dude had all the talent in the world on the Maple Leafs, and yes they were young, but being firm and demanding only goes so far...if you dont let the kids have "fun" they dont want to play anymore...

Just for the record....my comment was regarding Babcock...not Peters.  I have not heard or read anything about Peters to this point.

and...has nothing to do with hockey, but

I'm pretty fucking sick of the  "N_____s" "Fu____g Ni_____" in the ass BS "music" too.  Just because you call it music doe not make it okay to say.  But that should not make me a racist - I just happen to have some morality.  Easy to say since I'm an old white guy, but my half black adopted son would agree that that "music" is shit and serves no moral purpose other than to deepen the pockets of the "artists" who sell that shit (to mostly white urban teens)

NOt trying to pick a fight here, and let me clarify I REALLY have no idea what Bill Peters has said or what type of human being he is.

But that "music" is fucking trash and me disliking it does not make me a racist

Wait?  Are we in the right thread for this?  This is a Caps hockey thread, no?

Babcock is a polarizing prick, but still a prick none the less.   He did some great things in Detroit, and did a lot of “questionable” things that pissed a lot of players and people off (ie using his “passive European” system, and continuing to use it for years after the league copied and figured it out, and played the likes of Dan Fing Cleary for 20min a game amongst other things).

But I am on his side on this.  You are right that of kids don’t have fun they don’t wanna play, but pro athletes should consider practice, video sessions, working out, studying playbooks and being the best fun, followed by a 5th of Jack and a cigar at night .

The members of the “younger” generation who doesn’t think like this, will get decimated by the ones that do (we see it with Wilson every game).  If a whole team thought like that, they would destroy everyone (much like The Blues    last year)

It's ok to have disagreements with a coach.

Scotty Bowman was loved/hated but respected and respectable. (9 rings as a HC) (5 rings in the FO)

Mike Keenan thought he was the 2nd coming of Bowman and was hated, not respected, and not respectable. (1 ring as a HC)

Mike Babcock is the latter (0 rings as a HC)

Point being, when you have a winning predigree people will hate and love you, respect you and respect you for being respectable.

"Demanding" respect while disrespecting players (or people)...IDC if your a pro athelte or a mentally unstable bum...that attitude is a cancer and needs to disappear forever. (IMHO)

I here you Oz...and I REALLY don't know any of these guys (coaches or players) so I really shouldn't spout my spew....
but I DO get tired of the typical responses to adversity we see these days.

Peace out.

Can’t argue to much with that, though he did win a Cup with the Wings, and made a Final with them (that The NHL gave to Cindy), and one with The
Ducks.  Including never missing a playoff with The Wings.  So despite always having a team with numerous HOFers, his coaching resume is impressive:
Reg Season: 373-189-95
Playoffs 43-24

But, yes, he is a prick.  He was stubborn and over-confident with his system despite the league figuring it out for years. That, combined with his “my way or the bench”, led to many frustrating and questionable personnel decisions (ie Dan Clearly playing all the time and pissing off the likes of Modano, Chelios, and Shannahan)

I wanted him out of Detroit for years, and was worried when he took over a young Toronto team.  I figured it would be boom or bust.  Had they had enough time to build a roster with players playing his way, we’d of had our hands full in the East.  They even gave us a fit with 5 OT games in the first round a few years ago.

Lucky for us, things didn’t progress in Toronto quick enough.

However, it would be interesting to hear what some of his other former players had to say about him, particularly the ones he developed (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Filppula, Abdelkader, etc), or vets in Toronto (Tavares, Spezza). I would bet those that bought in loved the guy, those that didn’t, hate him.

You know what man, these are kids getting paid millions of dollars to do something they enjoy. When you're getting paid that much you can probably stand to suck it up a little bit (talking about Babcock). This hockey version of the #MeToo movement is just...

As for Peters, this ain't gunna be a popular opinion, but I don't give a fuck if you're racist. So long as you don't openly offend people or do things that hurt/offend the group in question. You're totally free to hate who you want internally.

That is the problem with Peters, he didn’t keep it internal but made racist comments to a player and in front of other players.  That is totally unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

I totally agree with your statement. I'm just saying, you're free to think what you want. Saying it out loud in front of people who were offended is where he crossed the line.
