Strasburgh gets the new Vette, apparently, I can't imagine it was driven out there as a prop

BIG, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS especially to you ALTA, AJ, RICH, 4CAPS, and any other big NATS fans on the board!!
THIS IS YOUR MOMENT!! You’re not dreaming! THE NATS ARE THE 2019 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!

I haven’t watched MLB for years,  but I started watching the Nats, 2019 playoff run, when it started!!
I must admit it was quite exciting!!  I really enjoyed it !!

Scherz, Stras, Corbin, and Doo were awesome!!!
NATS bats never gave up either, and PREVAILED!!

Very similar to the Capitals Stanley Cup win, in the way they found the spark from deep down within themselves!
Especially in coming back after how it was feeling this last Sunday evening when they lost three home games in a row!  There was only ONE PROBLEM, though.......

The Astros lost FOUR home games in a row!!!! WASHINGTON NATIONALS 2019 WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!
FUCKIN’ NUFF SAID!!!!!!!!

Rush

WOW.  Just WOW.  Way to go Nats.

Great series, great run, great season, great team.

Really impressed by the digging deep this team went through this year.  Lots of stars on this team, but what made it really special was how the whole team came together, and all the guys who had key moments in key games.  We always knew we had Stras and Sherzer and now Corbin and Rendon, etc, but guys like Kendrick and Cabrera and Zimm and even Suzuki having some really big moments was just awesome.  Total team win if there ever was one and the team really did seem to pull together as a team.  They really seem to enjoy each other.  I know it's easier when you're winning, but when was the last time you actually saw third string bench guys hugging on your starting pitcher.  I really like this team and the character they have.  Over the last decade(s), I have become NOT a big baseball fan, but this season/playoff run with this team was a treat to watch and actually fun again.  Not just because my team won, but because I genuinely think this is a T E A M.  Don't see that so much anymore.  I was just so happy for them, and enjoyed their struggle and success.  Absolutely no quit in this team and lots of character guys, and that showed.

I do think Stras should be the MVP.  I thought that if we did not get STELLAR performance from our starting pitching we were sunk.  Game 6, down 3 games to 2, in the away stadium is about as clutch as you can get and Stras was great.  5-0 pitching record against the best teams in baseball in the playoffs...pretty damn good.

Congrats to you Nats.  Thank you for a wonderful baseball experience.  You guys were just fun to watch and a pleasure to have win.

Wow, just Wow

The Nats had better resign Antony, this team needs him on many levels, and so happy Zimm gets a ring, it's a nice reward for wanting to stay here all this time

Amen, and Amen.

Although, I suspect Rendon gets paid elsewhere.  I hope not, but that's my suspicion - hopefully the two sides have just been waiting for the offseason, but all along this year they both have been kind of standoffish about it.

What was that craziness the talking heads were spewing about Strasburg opting out of the last four years of contract for $100 mil or something?  I saw them bring it up at/toward the end last night, but didn't know what the heck they were talking about or get the details.

Why would either party want to opt out of the contract?  Like Stras could opt out and maybe get paid more elsewhere?  Hoping this year's TEAM success will dictate that not transpiring.

So you want to hear the deal of the century?

Jaun Soto made $578,300 this year and the team (NATS) control his salary the next two seasons.  (The league minimum is $555,000)

Thinking....someone might have to negotiate a new deal in the coming years.

Soto signed a rookie contract, the money he is making is normal for someone in the league for their first 3-4 years. Stras's contract has an opt out clause for him that came to term at the end of this season, he has three days to do so, I highly suspect he won't. Rendon has said in the past he doesn't do contract talks during the season, so I'm not too concerned about that part. My concern is he has the same asshole agent that Harper has. But Rendon seems to be a bit more realistic about life than Harp.

If Stras stays in DC he will be making the same money as Harp

Yeah, I never heard the opt out stuff about Stras until the other night, and just thought it an odd time to bring it up.  To me, the team really seems like it gelled as a team and the parts worked together really well, so with the money he is making (and I honestly had not realized it was as much as it is) I can't realistically foresee Strasburg leaving the Nats in the near future (unless he really wants to go back to the west coast or for family reasons and whatnot).  He did comment that he loves this team and he would do ANYTHING for these guys, so if that is at least partly genuine, I really don't expect anything to come of that silly talk.

Rendon though....I just don't know.  I mean he really never talks so that doesn't bother me, but if left to his agent, I sometimes wonder if MONEY MONEY MONEY is all the agent (especially this one) is concerned with.
I mean the money is great, but at $200 mil or $300 mil, whats the freakin difference? (yeah, yeah, 100M)  But if you are Rendon, you KNOW you are making bank anywhere, but your happiness and career success has to be worth something.  I mean...do you think Harper is "happy" in fucking Filthy?

The grass aint ALWAYS greener.  I mean, you got to go for what you can go for, but at the figures we are talking about....I think you don't have to worry about making a living, so why not enjoy it.

My concern is Rendon just would rather be elsewhere (like Houston).  I just hope the bonding and success that came with this years team leads to some hard thinking on his part.

The good news is the Nats got plenty of cap space so there is no real concern there.  They certainly are going to have to spend some money on some quality relief pitching, but I would love to see them land Rendon

I can't freaking believe the Nats won the series.  I just didn't think we had the middle relief to survive and overcome a good team.  We certainly had to rely on stellar starters, and I guess anytime we went to middle relief we did suffer the consequences.  Using Corbin in game 7 was cool (and why the hell not), but the fact that the Nats had to burn Stras in relief at one point, and considered Max, and then went to Corbin....SHOULD be telling management there is a key element missing.

Anyway, WAY TO GO NATS

I love what this team did this year...really did pull it together and struggled through.  What a great success.  Happy for all these guys.

Who is going to the Nats parade tomorrow.  I plan to be there unless the weather does not cooperate.  Still can’t believe the Nats won.  To win all 4 games on the road has never been done before by any professional team in the major sports.

The Nats going through two dominant teams to win The World Series makes their run that  much more impressive.

They dominanted The Cardinals and took The Astros down to wire to win it all.  MD/D.C. is a legit sports town again!

to be fair, if the Skins had an owner that didn’t have his head up his rectal cavity, the team might win a few games. I’m guessing the bullets need the same but don’t know, I haven’t watched pro basketball since Magic vs Byrd

Yeah, it's sad - I used to be a pretty big Skins fan, but now I honestly don't care.  I don't have the time to watch, but I really don't miss it.  I am glad, as I don't agree with most of what the NFL does ore represents these days, so it's nice not to give them any of my viewership or support.  I was NEVER a NBA fan, and never really watched, so I'm not really missing anything there.  The Skins though, what a train wreck.  I agree, Snyder has slowly and systematically (and I believe unintentionally) poisoned the culture of the entire franchise.

Still hanging on to my Caps fandom and really enjoyed supporting this Nats team this year.  I like that they (at least appeared) to be a team of guys working for each other toward the ultimate goal.

and WTF....Strasburg opted OUT of his last 4 years of his contract?  I guess WS MVP means he's due for a pay raise.  Either that or he really wants to go home.  I am a little...taken aback by this.  Stras was due to make $100m the next four years.  What's he looking for?  $150m the next four?

The top ten paid pitchers (currently under contract), annual salary & bonus:
Scherzer $35m
Greinke $35m
Verlander $33m
Price $32m
Kershaw $31m
Sale $30m
deGrom $25.5m
Zimmerman $25m
Tanaka $23m
Darvish $22m

Stras was already in the top 7....I don't blame him for wanting to be in the top 5 but HELL MAN, what about the team?  I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but when he said after the WS "he would do anything for this team of guys" I guess that "anything" didn't include playing with them the next four years for a measly $100 mil.

I'm sure his agent is just doing the best for his client by opting out of the contract option, knowing he can get more than $100m for the next for years.  I guess at age 31 also, he might be looking for a 6-7 year deal rather than just 4.
Prior to this season, I'd say Stras was well paid and deserved to be in the top 10 "discussion", but one could argue otherwise with his history.  I certainly would say he was one of the top 5 guys all year this year and definitely the number 1 guy in the playoff run and World Series.

I am also sure there are other free agent pitchers out there who will drive these current top salary numbers up  (Gerrit Cole made $13m last season and is only 29 years old - that dude is about to get paid somewhere)

Anyway, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am a little.

I was so worried about the Nats trying to sign Rendon, I hadn't even thought about Stras opting out. (not that I really know about it until someone brought it up)
Now the Nats NEED to sign Rendon and Stras.  I hope the Lerners open up those purse strings and do right by these guys.  I am not confident we will re-sign Rendon.  I hope Stras wants to stay and gives a bit of a home town discount to stay with this team.
