Glad to hear Alan May saying O'Halloran hates the Caps and always fucks us over. Of course, we all already knew that.
Unfuckingbelieble that we just got a penalty for NO FUCKING REASON AT ALL!

Alan May again now  calling the officiating absolutely ridiculous.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

it's as good as time as any for the coach to call out the jackass zebras in the post game

If you are going to crap the bed, might as well get it all out.  Feel for the Caps fans that paid to be there to watch that.

I haven't seen the Caps get beat physically like that in a long time.  The refs also let lots of cheap Carolina crap go which they did all game after Ovechkin KO'ed their twerp.  You need your beefiest lineup in these cases.  I'd play Boyd and call up DSP and put them on the 4th line with Dowd.  Sit Stephenson and Burakovsky.  Of course, Rierden won't do anything.

Quick general statement first:
Liked Ovi’s fight. It’s so rare. Part of that had to be that the youngster was Russian, (if I’m not mistaken)! He mouthed off to a fellow countryman. An older, experienced, BEAST, of a countryman! Lets just say that he was, “forcibly matured”, by Ovi! LOL!

Looked like Ovi was trying to spark our guys, for the physicality, he may have sensed was coming! Good on his part, as Captain, but what I noticed was that although quite a few Caps players, bought in, and got physical, early on, just after Ovi’s fight, there were some key guys, that didn’t show that much interest in going all in, with the ones who WERE!! This always gets my goat!!

Officiating was notably inconsistent tonight, but I’m not a big ref-blame guy! Not saying the case can’t be made for bad officiating, but winning, in the long term, is about overcoming challenges!

What did stand out was our overwhelming, multiple failures on bringing the puck up from our D zone. A very LARGE problem that has plagued the Caps a lot this season.
They started to show signs of real improvement near the end of the season, and into the start of round one, but that “bring-up-itis”,  bit us HARD tonite, and the Canes CAPITALIZED!!  This is playoff hockey folks!! Carolina played HARD tonite!!

Then at 3-0, we witnessed the “give up” by several more of our guys, with only the two, or three, “always hustle”, suspects, still giving a damn!!
THIS IS MY REAL CONCERN, GOING FORWARD!!

Caps can have a bad game, but this  “give up/roll over”, crap only needs a few players to start, and it can get infectious, throughout the bench!!  So far Rierden has not been able to correct this issue, when it occurs, and it happens frequently enough, that it must be addressed successfully, or inherit the consequences, joining the ranks of the truly BEATABLE teams!!

Lastly, still can’t understand why Stephenson was brought back from scratchville, to play in the playoffs, when Dowd, Boyd, and Bura, were clicking so well prior to the playoffs. And you all know I’m not a big Bura fan. BUT, I’m also a chemistry fan, and they were getting HOT!

Rierden said that they worked to counter, Carolinas counter, to our successful PP, from the first game. Carolina did answer our PP well, in game two.
Well, Todd, whatever you “worked on”, between last Saturday, and Monday, failed miserably. If anything it’s worse!

Carolina has some well earned momentum going into this Thursdays upcoming game in Raleigh.
I’m EXTREMELY curious as to how and what he, Rierden, will respond with, as head coach!

If this Thursdays game is ANYTHING, it is the best “rubber meets the road”, litmus test, type game, of Rierdens career!! As I end my posts often:
WE SHALL SEE!!

Rush - good post.  I think our D was exposed for its softness.  Other than Orpik, we just don't have anybody that is big enough or strong enough.  After the first period, Carolina figured that out and just crushed our D and especially exposed Djoos. Note, I am not even going to comment on Dylan.

For changes, I would expect to see Boyd get a start.  If it is technically possible, I would actually not be surprised to see them bring DSP back (not that I would be in favor of that).  I think they might get worried about Carolina getting physical as it seemed like we were getting manhandled after the first two periods. Even Wilson was having a hard time and got knocked down several times. So, DSP might help in that regard (again, I vote against it).

The other change might be Seigenthaler in for Djoos.  Djoos obviously had a terrible game and seemed to be rattled - kind of reminded me of the Shattenkirk playoff performance a couple years ago.  Carolina will go at Djoos hard from here on out.

Otherwise, just burn that game tape and move on.

Well..... :poop:

Sadly, I kind of expected a let down and a stinker.  I did not expect an entire melt-down fall down, stinker of epic proportion.

Good on Ovi for schooling the kid.  Can't believe horse head Brin d'a moron's comments about it....like Ovi jumped the kid and starting throwing before he was ready and then pounded him to the ice.  Brind amore  must have got some bad oats in his feed bag before the game.  Kid must have a glass jaw too, cause Ovi is no Wilson. As someone else posted, I think it was a Russian connection of some sort and Ovi being Captain of a ship suddenly taking on water decided to do something.  I have no problem with it...they both dropped the gloves, the kid got tagged is all.  Surprised a bit how badly.  Didn't look like Tom Wilson type throws that caught him.

Ugly, ugly, ugly game.  Djoos...well you all know I never cared for the waif.  He is being exposed.  I'd opt for ziggy, but then I would have opted for him the last 6 weeks also.

And why the Fuck is Boyd sitting and Stepho playing now?  I mean Stepho has been the regular scratch for half the season and then the playoffs start and he's your guy?  I got no problem with him really, but Boyd has played better this year, and makes no sense based on the last two months of play.

Horrible non call on the cross-check/boarding the back of Nisky.  Lots of calls let go or missed.  Not a good game for the Refs, but not a surprise.

Hopefully Caps got all the "quit" and "lackluster" out of their game last night.

I'm not surprised at the let down and loss, but very disappointed in the quality/extent of it.  It was so bad you give the Canes hope.  Time to wake the hell up and squash that hope before it comes back and bites you in the bag.

Go Caps

Hey - am I the only one that is ticked that "Dougie" Hamilton was not suspended for the elbow to Kuzy's head?

Also, what about the cross-check last night to Oshie's head?  Don't remember who did it, but it wasn't all that different from Kadri's hit that got him suspended.

If those plays had happened to a different opponent there would have been a suspension on the elbow at a minimum

I agree on giving Djoos a seat although it's hard to see why he'd be rattled after playing in 4 playoff series last year.  Boyd should definitely play ahead of Stephenson.  I also have no problem with DSP coming up.  He'll be physical in the corners and it's not like the 4th line is getting any chances as is.  Then it's a matter of whether you want to sit Burakovsky or Dowd and I'd pick Burakovsky as things now stand.
