We did get a few lucky bounces, but you have to give the Caps credit too. They played a pretty damn good defensive game. The Isles were coming like gangbusters for most of the game and we kept them mostly out of the high danger areas. The first few minutes were a bit challenging for us and we fortunately got help from the pipes then, but we quickly clamped down and handled them solidly. We also showed extraordinary patience and confidence in not panicking over being down a goal for nearly two whole periods.
One of our best efforts for sure.

Glad the Caps are back in first, but Islanders have game in hand and.....
Play Ottowa the next TWO games; tomorrow and Thursday. I get the feeling the Caps will be battling for second or third place in the division rather than first in the coming weeks.
The Caps have a relatively difficult March (play Tampa Bay 3 times, Carolina twice, Philly 3 times, Hens, Winnipeg, Devils twice, Min). Some of these teams are best in their division, most others are legitimately fighting for playoff spot. Only two games in March are against a team (Devils) that is outside a playoff run.
Tampa Bay is about the only team we play in March that doesn't NEED the win. However, that doesn't mean I want to play them three times.
Islanders have a bit more favorable March schedule, but not a cake walk.
Hopefully, the playoff contender Caps team that seems to play better against better teams and play down to bottom teams will show up and play better in the coming games that matter.

this schedule is stupid. Playing teams that aren't even in the division this time of year is stupid. Playing teams in the western division is stupid, it doesn't leave enough of the schedule to play teams in their own division where the rivalries used to be. Bruce's first season the Caps played everyone in the SE twice in the last two weeks of the season, that's how it should be done every season
