NHL “Rulebook” and loopholes found, and rewrites
« on: Wednesday January 02, 2019, 03:12:03 PM Eastern »
We all know The NHL “Rulebook”is a flat out joke that started rather naive to and  has since become thousands of pages  of legal jargon that you can sum as “referees discretion” and/or marketing support that can be changed any time.

That being said , I found this little video about three rules that “where added”, because the great Roger Nielsen was just smarter than the other coaches and The NHL.

The three loopholes being:
-intentionally sending two many men on the ice at the end of the game (which causes play to stop and get a face off)
-replacing the goalies on a penalty shot  with a D, to charge and take puck
-pulling the goalie and having him leave his stick in front of the net
Some call this bush league, but it’s rrally brilliant strategy

I knew about these incidents. It is kind of bush league but if there is no rule against it why not take advantage of it. Whenever a loophole is exploited the league will always refine the rules.

The league rushing to refine the rules all the time is more of a detriment to the game than the loopholes, or great strategies coaches found.

These things are impossible to beat, they just force coaches and players to come up with ways to do it and be better.

Here’s another one, that “as the video clearly shows”. WOMANS RULES HOCKEY

Now I ain’t one to wanna see another man with his shirt off, (that being said, this rule shouldn’t be in woman’s leagues either), but in this case Ray (and Probie), where absolutely brilliant strategist to gain major advantages over their enemy.

Nothing to grab onto, increased ability to throw punches from either side, and increased mobility.

A smart fighter could take advantage of this, but the league had to step in to push their woman’s rules, and protect those that can’t figure things out, or fight for themselves.

I love anyone smart enough to read the rules and find a way to get around them.

Love that out of the box thinking.

Who could forget this 🤣😁😁😁.
But the “disorderly conduct” that cam from this rule is bullshit.  Now i can see waving your arms stick about and acting a fool . .but to screen the goalie facing him is just good strategy.  Stop it by manning up and clearing the crease.

meh, it's a good rule, especially since the D can't physically clear the crease anymore. As far as Avery goes, you got to be a special kind of asshole when your team mates don't like you

This maybe the dumbest rule yet.  Hell there’s no video to explain it because its basically just there to  rigg stats by inhibiting better players.  It’s also an aggravating commercial that won’t go away during every game, and there’s two of them:

Creating a rule because a goalie is to good for your “stars” is pretty pathetic

After the GM meetings, this will now be an “automatic goal”, not a penaltyshot

Aside from “who” will get goal, this is kinda bullshit.

While it’s rather cheap, it’s also pretty damn smart, particularly if the goalie is good at penalty shots. ,(our if your team is nicknamed “odd man rush”) also gives your team a rest and a line change.

because that happened so often that it needed a separate rule to address the problem

It'd of only needed to happen once on my watch and I'd teach/tell my goalies to do it every single time there was a breakaway with more than 1 opponent and zero defense.. Penalty shot where the goalie can prepare vs a spontaneous 2/3-0?? Every single time!
