the 1st and 3rd periods are the short line change periods, it's not like Eller went out of his way to skate in front of the Bruins bench, he had no frikin choice. Every team in this league is going to lay an egg or four during the season. There is absolutely no reason to get upset about a guy that doesn't score much getting excited about scoring, even if it's a 7-0 game. Why is it Ellers fault the Bruins gave up at the end? There are probably three people in the league right now that would get upset about it which puts marchands jackassery in the extream minority, and he should have his ass handed to him for it.

ArJunaZ:
I'm not buying the charge that Eller celebrated in front of the Bruins bench. The benches are separated by a few feet and he headed straight toward the most expedient approach to high five the entire Caps bench, which happened to go past the Bruins. I stand by Eller completely on this one. Like I said, if the Bruins should be offended it should be by their own play in losing 7-0.  I hope Eller scores on Jan 10 and this time really hams it up, this time stopping in front of the Bruins bench offering high fives and maybe the hot stick Ovie move.
 :snicker:

Maacoshark:
And I bet if the roles were reversed. And the Bruins were celebrating a meaningless goal you would expect Wilson to retaliate.
There is such a thing of showing respect for your opponent. To be honest I dont know why you would even celebrate that goal. Would he celebrate like that if the Caps were down 7-1?

Obviously, we have differing opinions. It was Eller's first goal of the season. I'd be excited too. I'd have no issue with an opponent celebrating a goal. No issue at all. He never even looked at the Bruins. He was focused on his team and headed to the Caps bench in the usual manner. I think it shows weakness when you overreact to something so harmless and innocent. It shows weakness when you try to make a big deal out of nothing. In other words, a pussy reaction.  That was not about Eller's celebration. It was about the frustration of being dominated and embarrassed.

Tag. You're it!   ;)

That's pretty trivial celebrating a meaningless goal like that. Ive seen guys score their first career goal and not get that excited. I didnt see Laine celebrating like that when he scored his 5th goal in a single game.
   It was a lame celebration
