Alzner on waivers..

<< < (2/4) > >>

justwincaps:
Agree with a post I saw somewhere, Alzner falls into that Beagle/Hendricks deal where I'm sorry to have seen them go, but happy as hell they "got paid" because of all the hardwork they did for the Caps and because they seem like genuinely good guys, and even happier yet that the Caps weren't the ones who paid them.

No one is picking up Alzner's contract.   It's kind of the risk you take when you sign a big contract - if you're game slides, no one else will take on that contract.  Still can't believe what Montreal was thinking when they signed him.

4 Caps:
Alzner has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Montreal’s AHL team.  That has to be tough for Alzner to take.

DC_1908:
It should also be noted that not only are the Habs stacked on D, but Weber is coming off LTIR, so Alzner and contract are the odd man out.

Rather he can not come back from his injury, is not getting along with Julien or whatever we can't say for sure, but there are options to move him if it is viable.

Regardless, some of the D play we've seen this year makes Jeff Shultz look like Scott Stevens, so Id be all for Alzner on one leg while Djoos, Bowery, and others get back to weight room in Hershey

I'd love to see Alzner back purely from a fan point of view. But I really don't think the Caps need him anymore. The young D corps are vastly improved over last year and by the end of this year I expect they won't need Orpik around anymore either, even if it's another 1 at $1M deal. That's what Alzer would have to agree to to come back as well. I don't see it happening

Hey Bowey has impressed me. I guess you missed him knock Anders Lee on his ass last night. Djoos I could go without.
In all honesty if you have watched Alzner play since he went to the Canadians you wouldnt want him on our team. His game has regressed that much. He never had any offensive upside and now his defense is average at best now. Its bad when Jordie Benn is ahead of you on the depth chart. Alzner has aged and has had some injuries and the game has changed so much that he just isnt van NHL calibre defenseman anymore. It sucks because I really liked him. There us no way I would want him on my team with his salary.
