PUCKNRUSH:

--- Quote from: Maacoshark on Saturday November 10, 2018, 08:40:51 AM Eastern ---     Sorry but I'm on the side that a 160kb dman doesn't belong in the NHL. I have been wtching the NHL since 71 and  I have never seen a dman as weak physically as Djoos.  I dont care if he is smart with the puck. He is not good without the puck.
About meeting Carlson. I dont know. I never put much thought into it.

I’m mostly with you on the 160 lb guideline. It’s a very understandable safe bet, as a rule. Nobody would fault that judgement.
I don’t, however, think he’s weak, relatively speaking, pound for pound. I see more of a “real trooper” attitude in him. He has had some effective hits, I mean, he doesn’t just bounce off an opponent all the time. I also think his puck bring up, and handling has improved. We see less mistakes, as of late, from him, but I understand your angle.

I still don’t get your response to my meeting Carly, and trying to pass on to you a friendly message?
FYI, last year I was lucky enough to get LIL a video with Alan May saying hello to her!
I’m wondering if you’ve possibly misread something, in this case?  I’ll let this lie, as it’s such a small thing, but it is curiously odd, as well.

The board wasn’t down but all the posts had “Backy PPG” all over them

Yep, “Backy PPG” was all over it

10 years, I bet the average NHL player weight will be around 170 - 175 lbs. The smaller, faster (and more skilled) the better.. It also won't be long (imo) before they start cracking down on interference when you see guys dump the puck and then get pinched against the wall trying to chase the puck into the zone.. They'll outlaw that here soon.. It'll be a total stick/check type game, where any body/body contact will be called interference or holding, etc.. Kids over 6' tall will be encouraged to play goalie only. They'll introduce "unnecessary roughness" as the new normal 2 min penalty, if you check with your body instead of your stick. Your team get wronged? You want to fight?? Well, ok.. But it'll be a 5 minute major and automatic game misconduct! See you soon!!  :poop:

With the size of players now. Its more about weight than height. Djoos is 6 feet but only 160lbs. Petterson in Vancouver is 6'2 and 176 lbs. There are also the shorter players players in the league now. It really does look like that is the direction the NHL wants to go.
Maybe I am a traditionalist but this isnt the way the game was meant to be played. The game is being Americanized. I use that term because it seems to be the new American fans that want the hitting and fighting out of the game.
I would much prefer to watch a junior game than an NHL game. At least there is a bit of physical play. The NHL seems to be getting worse every year. The game even seems a lot softer this year compared to last season. Maybe that's because we havent seen Wilson yet.
