Okay, I'm officially bored.  I'm down to looking at stats.

Bearokowski has played 7 games and has zero points.  He is also a minus 6.  I don't read TOO much into a +/- cause it can be deceiving especially after only 7 games, but -6 in seven games for a third/fourth line guy should result in being scratched.

EARLY on, I kind of wondered if he might get a shot at playing on the top line...NOT THAT HE DESERVED IT, but he is useless as a fourth line guy.  I know Caps do that with younger players and struggling players, but the Bear is a race horse, not a grinder.  He is never going to produce at the third or fourth line.

If he were worth anything, he'd be trade bait.

I liked Stephenson on the "top" line more so than Connolly, but I also think Stephenson looks better on the fourth line.  I would like to see Vrana get a shot.  I know that is not very responsible for defense purposes, but I would like Vrana to get a shot on the top two lines.  If you put have Ovie/Kuzy/Vrana - could be exciting at the least. (if we ever manage to get into the O zone with the puck)

I do miss my big Willy.  Hope he comes back soon.  We are 1/3 of the way through the suspension.  Freaking Bettman is just stalling.  When did they meet?   Thursday?  What is he still reviewing at this point?

I think the players union ought to try and fight for a rule on the timing of suspensions and appeals in the next contract talks.  It didn't take but a day or two after the infraction to issue the original suspension.  Why does it take two weeks to get/review the appeal?  It's not like they didn't know it was coming.

The team/player should have the option to choose to play during the appeal process and then if the sentence is not reduced, then they have to sit.  This would at least get the process moving.

Blah, blah, blah.  wah, wah, wah.

Cool! Didn't know he was from Ohio.. Have fun! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!  :raspberry:  :P

I agree Rich, (It's bullshit they had a 7 hour meeting yet Bettman needs 5 more days to go over the transcripts and come to a conclusion?) they should be able to play until the appeal is done, if they choose.. Im sure they'd need something different if it happened near/in the playoffs though, but during the regular season they should be allowed to play until the process is finished..

If it were me I'd scratch Bura, play Oshie on the RW on the top line with Kuzy/Ovechkin and put Nick with Vrana and Stephenson. I think Nathan Walker at this point brings more to the line up than Bura, same with Jaskin. DSP also deserves 3rd line minutes, so I'd put him with Eller and Connolly. Bura needs to be trade bait for us at this point, honestly.

We don't need another type of his forward, he's playing awful all over the ice, we need another big body to play with Eller on that third line so I'd gladly love to see our GM try to find a more character player to insert into that bottom six rotation.

Figured this thread was as good as any....

Saw this article (Dan Rosen - NHL) about "Bearkowski"

Do you think the Washington Capitals can entertain an Andre Burakovsky trade? He's underperforming and has a $3 million NHL salary cap charge. Maybe they can shore up their backup goalie position? -- @GLaSnoST9
I understand the frustration with Burakovsky's listless performance this season with zero points and seven shots on goal through eight games. I understand the question about trading the forward to free up that salary cap room and boost the backup goalie position. But I wouldn't be so quick to give up on a 23-year-old forward who has physical gifts, including size (6-foot-3), and has produced in big spots in the past. If they tried to trade Burakovsky now they'd be selling low. The Capitals don't have to get a new backup goalie yet. Pheonix Copley has played in two games, started one. He has an .873 save percentage and 4.04 GAA. Braden Holtby isn't much better in his seven games with a .885 save percentage and 3.46 GAA. He's allowed four or more goals in three of his seven starts. Maybe the Capitals need to help their goalies more. I'd wait, give Burakovsky some more time to see what he can do, but all the while do my homework if I was general manager Brian MacLellan to see what the market is for him. He's a restricted free agent after the season and he'd need to be qualified by the Capitals at $3 million. That could be too high of a price tag for a player who is not producing, which means Washington could risk losing him for nothing. He'd become an unrestricted free agent if they don't qualify him. That's not going to fly, so a trade might eventually be in the offing, even if it means they sell low.

My two cents:  I am about done with Bura....too much time given for a guy that is going to end up another Alexander Semin.  It sucks cause Bura does have some size and certainly skills, he just can't seem to get out of his own head.
Trade him now and his value is low, but waiting til next season gives you nothing.
And I would trade for a big body bruising kind of grinder, not another backup goalie.  Give Bura till the 10 game mark and then ship him off.  Walker at least shows some hustle and Jaskin seems to play with an edge.  (Pretty much what Devise said)

This is about years late but, oh well.

I think most GMs would of moved him and certainly not extended him, by now, but we are talking about a popular player on the Caps so here we are.

About the only chance in hell he gets traded is if he becomes unpopular with The Caps target demographics (soccer-moms and 12yos), and not be in line with the “keep the band together” marketing strategy

If Bura hasn't blossomed yet here, I seriously doubt he will. Time move him. Maybe he will blossom somewhere else. It happens every now and then.

If Burakovsky were a stalk of corn, we would have all STARVED, waiting for him to “blossom”!!
The most stale, predictable, and repetitive story of any recent caps player, Period!
The media commentary about him, over the last 3 seasons, you could memorize, verbatim, like a prayer at the dinner table!
Its BURA himself, who states every time, after his resets/injuries/negative production spells, etc., that “he feels great”, or “ his legs feel good”, or “he’s learned, now, not to put too much pressure on himself”, blah, blah, blah! MAKES ME FRICKIN’ PUKE, to hear any professional sportswriter attempt to insinuate that he’s worth waiting for, because of his “physical gifts” and talents. HELL, on the contrary, it’s BECAUSE of his natural physical gifts and skills, which should have him in a high level playing position, that he receives condemnation.  HELLO?? A crazy skill set, with a repeatedly proven mental inability to bring it to fruition, on the ice! And has been afforded multiple opportunities to showcase himself, beyond any reasonable period of time.

JFC WTF is with this schedule?

Another FOUR DAYS OFF with no CAPS game???!!!

WTF NHL!!!

what moron made this schedule?

Week one featured 2 games (back to back) in the first 2 days of the season and then none for 5 days,
then Week two - 3 games in 4 days
then Week three starts with 3 days off and then 2 games in three nights.
Week four a bit more reasonable with 3 games in 7 days,
but then Week four starts with 4 days off followed by 2 games in three days.

I missed the game Saturday (hate 4pm starts) but now I have to wait til Freaking THURSDAY?

WTF?

‘Shine) the night before and/or morning of a game

(what? like their D can get any worse)
