Or maybe it wasn't the most unlikely group to get the right attitude, precisely BECAUSE it isn't the most talented group.  Having lost some of the supposed talent and depth that was perhaps thought to be sufficient to win a championship, it finally sank in to this group of players that they had to find some other way to win than simply trying to outskill the opposition.

I happen to think that this series is not over by a longshot, and it isn't because I think that this team is all of a sudden going to discard what got them here. My thinking is that Vegas is good in its own right (if a little bit of a one-trick pony maybe), and the problem with hockey is that it is a largely random game.  It happens all the time that the team that is better, or plays better on a particular day, still doesn't win the game.  If Fleury suddenly finds his mojo again, this series could end up being very iffy again.

OldHat:
I absolutely agree.  It is by no means finished and I'm not really more comfortable than I'd be if they were down in the series.  I'm encouraged by their game as a whole but yes, things can turn in a hurry.

OldHat:
Following are the Top 10 markets for last night's Stanley Cup Final Game 4 on NBC:

1  Washington, D.C.  22.90
2  Las Vegas  20.48
3  Baltimore  12.39
4  Richmond  10.54
5  Buffalo  8.88
6  Pittsburgh 6.92
7  Minneapolis  6.53
8  Denver  5.13
9  St Louis  4.60
10 Nashville  4.50

I'm glad the next game is away.  For whatever reason, they are playing better away.  Less distractions on the road I guess.  They also have the long change during most of the game and players need to more careful.

Uh, no.  Both the home and visiting teams have their long change in the 2nd period (and the first overtime period, if it happens).  They defend opposite goals AND sit on opposite sides of the red line, so the periods of long change are the same for both teams.

The reason I am uneasy is that, being at game 4, it felt like an anomaly.  The knights missed (literally) several good chances.  The Caps, to their credit, generated a lot of blown coverage by the Vegas defense and wide-open looks -- and about 2/3 of them ended up in the net, because the Caps also shot the puck extremely well.  Hockey is truly a game where you are never as good as you look when things are going good, nor as bad as you look when things are going bad.
