Watching the game again this morning! Talked to my dad on the phone who mentioned an article in my hometown paper (I grew up in eastern PA) about the firing of the Hershey Bears coach this year and how nice it was that Barry Trotz called him personally after he'd been fired to thank him for producing so many of the Caps players who are currently in the Final who had played under this coach (Mann). My dad read the list of players--it was a huge number. Just a little Caps tidbit from my home state :)

Tomorrow is the biggest game in franchise history. It's a must win. Teams going up 3-1 in the finals are 32-1 when it comes to winning the Cup. Win tomorrow and we'll do it.

Ha! No...it's weird, I grew up an hour north of Philly but my family never supported any of the Philly teams. And, to be honest, I only started watching hockey about five years ago when my husband (Flyers fan) said he thought I'd actually enjoy the sport (I avoided watching because I did not like the fighting). To get him to stop pestering me, I finally started to watch the Capitals--and was hooked. Philly teams are one thing; Philly fans are another. To me, they represent one of the things that are bad about professional sports and I cringe when I see their fans behaving badly on television or read reports about it.

You're right. If we lose tomorrow it's a best of 3 with 2 of them in Vegas, which just shows that a 2-1 advantage isn't all that meaningful.
But even if we win tomorrow, nothing is assured until the 4th win is in the books.
