If the Caps don't make it, will anyone root for Vegas?
« on: Friday May 18, 2018, 12:08:33 AM Eastern »
To be honest, if the Caps don't make it, Vegas is the LAST team I want to win the Cup. While it might make for a sweet Cinderella story, it would just be the ultimate punch in the dick. For a team that's basically the Island of Misfit toys put together in a single off season, managed by our garbage former GM...the pain would be unbearable when you look at our roster, our on-paper talent, our coaching "experience," and our years and years of disappointment.

If the Caps don't make it I would want to see the Jets win it. Lord Stanley has already gotten a tan, and I'm not that interested in Vegas to care.

I love how that team was made, their coach was one of my favorites growing up, and their arena is
a hell of a place to watch hockey to make a few reasons

I've seen their pregame on the tv, it looks like it's fun. It's definitely Vegas. I'm just not big on them winning their first year in. The entry draft needs to be adjusted a tad, but I fear buttman won't change a thing for the next team. Which may not be Seattle now with that employee head tax they just passed. Amazon is gonna walk away from a billion dollar half constructed building because of it.

I like Vegas a lot.  They play a very aggressive game and have guys who never give up for a second.  Plus, they have Nate Schmidt making a nightly example of the Caps' stupidity.  So, yea, I'd like to see Vegas win.

Yeah it looks like Midevil Times/Ren Fair, but it is fun none the less.

The outside is a party bigger than the Nats Party Deck, they have the drum crew goin, a good ball announcer and the fans are all cool as hell.  It’s damn hard to go there and not at least become a supporter.

While they had the easiest expansion draft, I think no many GMs would have fucked it up royally and went for “stars” they could market in not only a non-traditional environment, but the cities first sports team.

Yet GMGM went through and grabbed the right players that most people never heard of, and they are two wins away from a Cup final.

From ESPN:

So many of these players deserve credit for what's happening, but those of us in the media have written a lot about the lack of a true No. 1 defenseman on this roster. It feels like Nate Schmidt has become that player, at least for now, and it's been truly remarkable to watch his transformation. He is very much the embodiment of how this team plays and how they succeed given his speed, tenacity and high quality of play throughout the postseason.
Schmidt is averaging 24:53 of ice time per game this postseason, more than two minutes higher than his next closest teammate, in a team-high 462 shifts. He plays in all situations and is getting very tough assignments. According to Natural Stat Trick, Schmidt's most frequent on-ice opponents in the three series at five-on-five have been Joe Pavelski, Anze Kopitar and Mark Scheifele. The Knights have not necessarily dominated those players head-to-head, but Schmidt has been part of making sure those guys don't beat them. He may have only six points so far this postseason, but he allows the Golden Knights to play the way they do. Schmidt also leads entire NHL in playoff in takeaways.

But hey, let's protect Niskanen.

At first, i had the "f vegas" mentality.

But now i hope they win. It'll be a big middle finger to doug armstrong (blues gm) bc they have a team of nobodies playing for one another while he has signed and extended a bunch of prima donnas

How Ryan Reaves played out is pissing me off and Im not even a Blues fan . . .

They protect Reaves, ok, loose Perron who is the type of player GMGM was looking for, only to trade Reeves for what would be a bottom 16 pick (good on him for getting a first from the Hens though), only for Vegas to then end up getting him and Perron to head to the SCF with

Brooks had it right.  Plus, Vegas was taking, at best, the supposedly 11th best player from the other teams except in a few cases.  Imagine them getting Marchessault, Reilly Smith and Gallant all from Fla.  Let's you know how clueless most of the league is.
