It really is a joke because the Pens use their stick more than any other team in the league and that is what they are "supposed to" be cutting down on. Now, in the 3rd, the refs will put away their whistles. And the Pens will commit multiple infractions like usual.

Connolly goal deflected off them in the first. That would be a bounce that went our way. The big problem is the Pens just roll with it and play their way. They dive, they whine, but they still play hard fast hockey. If they are down by 2 they don't hold their heads. We do. The refs may not help but when things don't go our way we can't look defeated. We don't need the refs to win a hockey game we need to play every shift like it's the last and we never have that sense of urgency. Or rarely. When we do we have strong shifts.

The problem is that Kuznetsov and Backstrom are not playing hard enough or well enough and Crosby/Malkin are controlling the center. They have to play harder and better in the 3rd for us to have a chance. Ovie is playing hard but without Willy they are not going to be strong as a line if Kuzy doesn't play well. Oshie and Stephenson are playing well but they need Backstrom to step up in the 3rd. And Smith-Pelley needs a seat in the press box.

Roenik nailed it on the second period intermission - said the "Pens just want it more." Said he doesn't know how the chance to beat the two time defending SC champs, at home, to take a 3-2 lead isn't enough to motivate this team. JR - welcome to our world!!!
