Newbie looking to become STM
« on: Thursday May 03, 2018, 02:12:01 PM Eastern »
Just moved to NoVA mid-season last year.  Working to get to know the Caps and be a good fan... and considering becoming a STM...... but have some questions (and I hear this forum is the better spot versus the ?official? one the Caps site links to).

So... go easy on the newbie, would ya?  :)  Here goes:

1. How's the resale market for the games I can't attend?  I travel a lot for work and might miss maybe a third of the games.  Do I need to plan on just eating the loss or does the resale market do okay at gobbling those up?

2. I'm no math nerd... but why do all STM prices reflect a ticket price times 42.5 and not 41 for the number of home games?  Example: I'm looking at attack end mezzanine, lower rows... so it's 50 per ticket... times 2 because I want my son to come with me... time 41... should be 4100 bones...... but it's 4250.  I don't get it.

3. Is it worth saving a couple bucks to move up in rows and hope the pick-a-seat event has some lower?  Or is it slim pickings by the time it gets to the newbies like me?

Thanks in advance... and look forward to seeing the chats on here.  Go Caps!  Crush 'em at the Burgh tonight!!

Welcome to the Boards!

I was an STH for over 10yrs, and now I’m glad I’m not.

For games you don’t make, the resale sucks and you’re kuckey to get face value.

They’ve also diluted the perks so much they don’t make em worth it either

I’d advice to just cherry-pick ticket exchange, and/or make friends here etc that will let you know if they have extra

I agree with DC, I go to about 20 games a season. It's been far easier to cherry pick games through StubHub or Ticket Master. Caps management continues to make resale an absolute pain in the ass, yet wonder why the arena looks 1/3 empty every single home game. If you already know you won't use 1/2 to 1/3 of the package it's best to not even buy it.
Knowledge is knowing that the Tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is knowing that you shouldn't include it in a Fruit Salad; Philosophy is wondering if a Bloody Mary counts as smoothie
