If what you [and others] say about the favoritism to the Penguins over the years and your surmising about what the NHL has "perhaps decided" about the way the playoffs would "be nice to go" this year is even remotely true, then what is the point of investing yourself as a fan?  Such manipulation would put the NHL only a few steps above pro wrestling.

I will say this:  If the Caps were to make it to the finals against the Vikings, IMO they'd be in serious trouble.  If there was a game I saw this year where the Caps were clearly outclassed in a way that had nothing to do with individual game motivation, it was the game against Vegas.  They seemed to be motivated in that game, but they were struggling to stay in it to the extent they did.  I realize it was only one game, and June is not regular season, but boy, those two teams did NOT belong on the same ice.

How long have you been a hockey fan? Yes there is a conspiracy theory that the Pens get calls go their way on a regular basis. None sure if a specific team gets the benefit of the doubt but there are certain players that definitely get calls go their way more often than not.
If you watched the Caps all season you would have seen them look like they didn't belong in this league several times. I thought the games they looked out classed was one against Philly, one against Nashville and one against Colorado.
    BTW, who are the Vikings

That picture brings up a very good point. When you look at the puck from in front of the goal you have to factor the thickness of the CLEAR ice. I was fairly certain that no goal puck view that everyone zoomed in on had a few things worth mentioning. The white we could see was only between the side, not center, of the puck. The center portion was obscured by a lot of snow, and the it is the center portion that is most likely to have remained on and not behind the goal line. As the animation you point out above shows the angle we saw could not possibly be conclusive due to ice thickness being a factor making it less likely the puck fully crossed over the goal line. Though IMO all these things clearly were not enough to overrule the call on the ice, the fact is that Holtby did a great job covering up the puck enough so that we really have no  idea how far back it went before he stopped it and 'maybe' pulled it back before the cameras could see it. It could have been a goal. How many times have the Caps been robbed of goals in important games? Plenty. We were due and 'maybe' we caught a break a for once. I'm just very happy to see the league made the correct call. We too often have seen them make blatant calls against us in similar situations.  This is a nice change to have fair calls in an important series.

As many of you may recall the last couple years that the obvious bias very nearly caused me to quit watching the NHL. If it were not for my friends on the forums and my fondness for the Caps players I surely would have quit watching.

I hope we beat the Vikings and win the Heisman Trophy this year!  ;)

Good Lord, why did I type that??  You people must think I'm drunk or something.  When in fact I've had to forego alcohol for the last several weeks because of medication I am taking.

I'll not easily forget the non-call on the obvious trip behind the Caps net that DIRECTLY lead to a Hens goal during their Game 1 five minute spurt.
Same with DSP being tripped while driving the net in Game 2.

Refs sure missed the slash last night on the little ball of hate in Tampa.

Let's face it, it is only marginally better than pro wrestling.

as someone who is getting tired of correcting my autocorrect, I thought nothing of it and knew exactly what you meant
