Burakovsky having surgery

Trotz says he is done for this series. Will need 'minor' surgery. I fear he is done for the season.

DC would probably claim it's addition by subtraction, especially since Stephenson is the latest fit in his spot.

Unless/until Burakovsky breaks out offensively in a significant way he doesn't add as much value as his puck handling and shooting skills says he should.  I understand why the Caps want to hold onto him, though.  He has the feel of someone that you give up on and sell for peanuts who subsequently breaks out for his next team.

Unfortunate for Burakovsky. Hate to see anyone get injured.
In my opinion it isn't a big deal for the Caps to be without Burakovsky unless we get more injuries.

There's an article today that says that TJ Oshie is obviously playing hurt, but is soldiering through.

If at some point he can't go, then we will need Burakovsky.  I don't think Vrana in the top 6 is going to cut it in the playoffs -- not this year.

If anything we’re better off without him.  He’s to much of defensive and possession liability which we have too many of as is.

It is time already? Are they bringing in the "excuse truck" for it's annual tune up.. "X is playing hurt, X needs surgery, X had the flu the entire series...We have bad luck.."  lol

Games 2-4 i thought oshie had gone back to his days as a blue in the playoffs and being lazy...

Then i heard he was hurt. He's still doin better this playoffs than he did with us...

Did anyone else notice that Oshie was hit hard everytime he was on the ice in game 5? Makes me question the coach's decision to inform one and all that he was playing hurt. I thought he was definitely targeted by CBJ .

This makes me happy.

I don't dislike Bura but I don't think he fits on the team. His not being in the line-up will be a blessing.

I gotta agree, his four year experiment here has run its course

I disagree. He was one of better players last year in the playoffs. I would much rather have him out there than Chiasson or DSP.

I think he was good in a couple of games before we sucked. He wasn't ever good for a meaningful stretch. Sure, it would be good if he played, but I don't expect much.

Agree.

We should of dumped him before this season at the latest while we could get something for him, but now his value has to be almost nothing.

Hes a lazy 100ft player who despite plenty of ice, and power play time and playing with Nick, Ovie, and Oshie, couldn't even crack 20 goals.  If he's gonna be a liability on D, they need to demand more production to make up for it.

I agree that this experiment should be done. I also think we should have dumped him before the season. We could have used the cap space. He has shown flashes but considering the talent he has played with, he hasn't been very productive. They need to accept the fact that this experiment failed.

I was literally just typing this... He has had all the opportunity in the world to produce and hasn't taken advantage of it.

As it turns out, all the discussion and difference of opinion about Burakovsky would seem to be a moot point.  In their series preview Walton changed Bura's injury status to week-to-week, which means an unforeseeable return at this point, and they do not expect to see him in round 2.
