The fulcrum  in optimism and delusion is reality.  Same as with pessimism and defeatism.

The reality is, this group has very little chance at beating four of the sixteen teams, four out of seven, four times in a row.  They are simply not built with a roster physicaly and mentally capable to do it without extraordinary external factors that given said makeup  have extremely low probability of happening.

Any thoughts  of  “the hockey gods will be all on our side”, “we’ll just want it more”, “we’re as good as anyone else”, “in Kuzy and Grubby we trust”, . .  is simply delusional and Rockin The Red Kool Aid

This is what I have become, delusional. It's short term though. As soon as May arrives the Caps are usually in the back of my mind and I am back to normal. For now though, I will still drink the red coolaid as long as it is spiked! Makes for a nice coping mechanism.

rum usually goes well with red/fruity artificial water
Knowledge is knowing that the Tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is knowing that you shouldn't include it in a Fruit Salad; Philosophy is wondering if a Bloody Mary counts as smoothie

"bother" said Poo, as he chambered another round

While your optimism is admirable, it’s the Rock The Red Kool Aid sales that make it ok for  ownership not to hire a front office capable of getting past the second round.

Well the thing that sucked about last game was that the team wasn't bad defensively other than a couple of breakdowns. Columbus didnt get very many quality scoring chances. We needed our goaltender to make some key saves. Dum mb penalties hurt us. 5 on 5 we weren't bad. The guy that got exploited last night was Orlov.

Just heard that Trotz has announced Grubauer as the starter in game 2. I don't like this decision at all. If Grubauer plays mediocre like last game and we drop game 2 I can guarantee that they will put the pressure on Holtby to save the day. I hope Grubauer has a better game.
If the decision to start Grubauer in this series fails, I think that will spell the end of Trotz for sure.

For me it has sense, because if Holtby go and loose the game, we have no confidence in both goalies and they are shaken. Although we need a better game from Grub.

PS: yesterday I have watched Quick  (LA vs VGK), that was the man. I'm so impressed.

Am I the only one bitter about the Caps sitting Holtby games 1 and 2. I can understand game 1 maybe but when that didn't work I was expecting Holtby in game 2. They brought him in 4 goals too late.
