Dang, just looked at standings and Toronto owns the basement in the east - yikes. Somebody gonna get fired pretty soon.
Still though...only 10 pts separate #1 and #16 teams in the east, with a huge log jam in the middle.

Crazy stat: Capitals and Avalanche are the 2 worst OT teams in the league. Both 0-4 in the shootout.
Caps have 1 OT win and 5 losses (0-4 in the SO)
Avs have 2 OT wins and 7 losses (0-4 in the SO)
Doesn't surprise me about the Caps, but the AVS are the best team in Hockey - I am shocked at their OT woes.

Yea, interested to see what they do with the oval. Not sure if NHRA and Nascar have any ties, but hopefully not. Would love to see an All Star Race or even the Clash (anything Cup series) there. Track was a monster in it's day! 2 grooves, lots of tire wear. Place needs laps on that new asphalt, to get back to how it was.

Nice that Hutson practiced! I've never seen him play.

Caps have won 3 games in last 10 - Not Good. Their inconsistent mediocre play is resulting in mediocre standings placement
Buffalo is 10-0-0 in last ten to pull into WC spot

Florida has been better and if they win the "winter" classic tonight will bump the Caps out of WC spot.
Detroit is #1 team in the East, despite having a -4 goal differential

They've settled into a beat the stiffs, lose to the good teams routine. That obviously doesn't equate to long term success.

Shocking news to all I know, but the Caps really don't have that much talent that other teams have to be concerned with.
Short of Wilson and Chychrun....what big talent do we have that another team would fear....or have to worry about? Protus maybe if he gets fully back on track, and his size makes him a challenge to contain
Thompson certainly is a factor, and will surely steal a game now and then (as long as its not in the shootout)
If you are the opposing team what are you seeing in your scouting and film review of the Caps that worries you? Ovi still has that shot now and then, but he's as much a liability as a scoring threat most of the time he's on the ice.
We have exactly one player with 20+ goals Wilson (22)
Protas (16), Ovi (15), Chychrun (15), Strome (10) are next, with nobody else on even a 20 goal/year pace.
