Roy and McIlrath did not practice this morning, which tells me they will officially be on IR at the 5pm deadline. Chisholm left practice injured, possibly a skate cut. That’s potentially three injured to start the season.

Just canceled Hulu. First 2 games are national tv, so looks like Sunday the 12th will be the first time I need Monumental+. Probably gonna switch to Slingtv and then get Monumental+.  Probably end up paying around the same in the end. Only channel (that I know of) I won't be getting now is Fox Business.

A picture of Chisholm cut through his gear got posted. It doesn’t look bad. But, it’s going to need a couple days to heal properly.

Miroshnichenko has been sent to Hershey, he is waiver exempt. The roster is now 24 players. It needs to be 23 by 5pm. Having a player or two on IR will satisfy that. For now.

Well it's 2 pm...wonder if Stephenson and Frank cleared waivers.  I would assume we'd hear if they got picked up.
Mac hurt, Roy hurt, Chisholm hurt with a cut...i expect they look at 4:30 which guy is in the worst shape and put at least 1 on IR, meaning no more moves/waivers to worry over

Well that's good...i guess.  Maybe they wanted to be grabbed....get a chance to play somewhere?  Frank is right on the cusp...great wheels, decent hustle, but just a bit snakebit on scoring..which is where he was last year when he was on the NHL squad.
SO now we just find out how many D go on IR and we good to go for Wednesday.

Stevenson is good, but I don’t see him starting here unless there is an injury. Stevenson has two years left on contract, Lindgren three and Thompson 6 or 7. I think he’s going to be trade bait this or next season.

Looks like they have BigMac on IR...

in typical Caps web management ...they post this to their website, but if you go to the team roster on their website, it has not been updated since sometime in the summer so it shows Ethan Frank on the roster, but not Lappy or Iorio

Sourdiff basically took Taylor Radish RW 4th line spot
Milano and Lappy....took spots sort of held by Eller, Mangipanne
but also several games by Frank, Miro, Lappy, Vranna

Also, a fairly quick milestone watch is OV being the first NHL player ever to 900 career goals. He needs three to reach it.

I saw where the Pens cut Alexyev.  Too bad for him, I thought he was mismanaged by the Caps and could have been good if he got more development instead of sitting on our bench all year.  Or, maybe he just wasn't that good.

From my uninformed eye test, he just didn't skate very well.

Yeah I dunno, I had high hopes for Alexeyev a few years ago, but Covid, and other issues kind of F'd up his development.  The fact that Pitt signed him and then cut him tells me its not just the Caps, but it is too bad. He's a big rig and actually hits people (unfortunately sometimes in a bar in Clarendon)  I believe he was a first round pick (31st overall in 2018, and there were 31 teams so....)
He could go play with Kuzy in KHL....i saw where nobody in NHL really wanted to take a shot on Kuzy this year and his former KHL team and he agreed to negate his 4 year deal after 1 year at the end of last season.  Kuzy now signed a 1 year deal with another KHL team.  I think he's working for beer money, but he has to run the zamboni after practices too.  According to RMNB, the contract is 1 year 10million ruble (which is $123k US)  NHL minimum is $775k, and his KHL contract from last year was ten times that amount.

So, in a nutshell, I guess we'll see if Lappy can replace Eller as 3c. Not really worried about the 4th line. Though, still not sure what's supposed to be special about Sourdif. Dudes another midget.

Anyone hear about or watch either of the last two Panthers vs Lightning pre-season games?
They played 10/2 and had 186 PIMs
played again 10/4 and had 322 PIMs
They had also played each other 9/30
Apparently by the 3rd game in a row vs each other they were quite chippy.  I watched the 9min condensed replay, and of course...they did not show a single penalty or fight in the highlights  ::)
