I think Matt is destined for AHL career...4th rounder in 2017 and is 26 years old, and I don't believe has ever played a NHL game.

Tonight’s game in Hershey is being televised on Monumental. Pre game at 6pm, game at 7pm. The team website says the radio broadcast will be on 106.7, which is a possibility with the Nationals having the night off.

anticipated lines:

Miroshnichenko  D. Strome  Leonard
Cristall  McMichael  A. Protas
Milano  Lapierre  Frank
M. Strome  I. Protas  Sourdif

Sandin  Roy
Chisholm  McIlrath
Gucciardi  Iorio

Lindgren
Stevenson

So for all you rednecks (okay for you Mick)...
I was at my "new" brother in laws house in PA this past weekend for a wedding (Sorry Mick, my sis and he got married...so no more kissing my sister for you)
anyway....he has a mounted Elk that his son shot (with an arrow no less) couple years back in PA that is absolutely huge.  He said it just under 1000 lbs.
PA has a lottery and issues about SIX elk tags a year - over 100k applicants and my brother in law's grown son was one of those lucky six a couple years ago.
I will get her to send me a pic and i will post it.
say bye to kissing my sister Mick  :'(

It’s been a few years since I’ve had elk steaks. There is a heard down in south west VA, expanding in from Kentucky. They are a state game animal, and no lottery for tags the last time I looked.

VA does have an elk lottery. And the game is not on 106.7.

Looks like the Caps beat the Flyers 5-1

I saw highlights of Miro, Cristall, Milano and McMike goals. Not sure who got #5.

Rich, tell the sister congrats and I'll miss her.  :raspberry:

Milano had 2 goals Mick

I watched the game - it was a mismatch.  Looked like the Flyers just didn't show or care.  The Caps looked fantastic, but i dunno if the flyers just had young guys out or what, and their goalie was suspect and appeared very small in net - corners were open ALOT and we took advantage.
And it really was 6-1.  Iorio put one in that hit the back bar and bounced out but the refs didn't see it.  You could clearly see it on the replay, but they didnt have ref replay review so....no goal.  The whole team was laughing about it.
All the the young guys with a legit shot at a spot are playing extremely well.  Miro looks good, and skating stronger and definitely has a drive to go to the net.  Lappy looks fantastic, Miro has been a sniper
I think on a team that had the room Cristal, Lappy, Miro and Milano would all get a spot.  Hard to say just based on 2 preseason games, but Lappy and Milano certainly have earned one.
Miro and Cristal have looked really good too, but I think if nothing else their AHL eligibility will send them to Hershey.  Not sure what that means for Leanord, but I assume he will play in the AHL.
We have all these super talented young guys, but they also all are pretty small....Leonard and Cristall, and even Miro, although Miro appears to have put on some weight without losing a step - he had a pretty power drive move goal last night.

Nice to see them doing well - not that it means anything.  It really looked like it was Men vs boys last night...even though some of our men are still boys.

Man this team is LOADED with young talent.  Great problem to have.  Only two games in but seems to me Lappy and Milano have to make the squad, so that pretty much means most everyone else does not.  I feel bad for the guys who have played really well, but ultimately will not make the Caps roster.  Total of 23 roster spots available (if they can stay under salary cap)
Caps website roster (which means nothing) has 23 players listed currently including Frank, Leonard, Sourdif, and Milano
(thats 13 skaters, 8 D, 2 goalies)

I expect Milano will make the roster based on his play so far.
That leaves 2 spots for all these guys (assuming Leonard and Sourdif have to Earn a spot)
Lappy
Leonard
Sourdif
Cristal
Miro
Iorio (D)  I'd like to see him make the team but I don't see how there is room
Chisolm (D)

I don't recall what the waivers rules are or exactly what status all these guys are.  I know Lappy is no longer exempt so he is free pickins if Caps have to move him down to AHL.
I'm afraid we will lose Iorio to waiver if they send him down - but not sure his status.  I'd like to see him replace TVR or Carlson when their contracts expire this year - or sooner (rather than signing them to a ridiculous extension for even a year or two)
TVR constantly surprises me with his effectiveness...he just looks like he's totally suspect to be beat like a drum but his stats show otherwise, but its a matter of time...another 1/2 step and he's toast.

Anyway, no wonder Hershey has such success, they are loaded with guys on the cusp of NHL status
