The Carlson high-sticking, which was actually McMike....I don't think the stick actually touched him...I think the dude was faking. I know all it takes is a tap on the helmet to draw, but it looked like a miss and a Crosby-esque acting job. I wanted a better look at it but they didn't want to show me.
Same as the hooking on ...Roy? I think. Dude reaches in with stick and it slides up opponent's stick and literally taps his hands. They need to fix this BS call. Hooking or slashing should only be called if you actually affect the player you are reaching in on. The simple fact that your stick makes contact with a player should not be a penalty IMO. Pretty soon they will be calling a lift check slashing or hooking.
Cristall looked good and scored, yet again. Lappy looked good. Protas looked good as well.
If you factor nothing but game performance we've seen, I'd say Cristall makes the NHL squad. We don't seem them in practice, but the kid is scoring.
I think based on other factors (like who is waiver exempt) might send both Protas and Cristall to Hershey.
I expect Protas, with only one season in major junior (OHL/WHL) will go to Hershey. Cristall is only 20 but has 4+ seasons in WHL (started at age 17) so he will certainly at least go to Hershey if he doesn't make the NHL squad. His size (167lbs) is holding him back.
The problem is....where would Cristall play on the Caps roster? Putting him on 4th line would be a waste. I guess you could put him on L3 with Lappy at C, but that's not much beef or experience on 2/3 of that line.

I don't think Cristall weighs 167 pounds any more. I watched a postgame interview with him the other day, and his face looks fuller. It wasn't the face of someone who is close to 6' tall and weighs 167 pounds. I suspect he's put on a significant amount of weight - wouldn't be surprised if he weighs at least 180.
But your point still stands - where would he play this season? I think, if Ovie doesn't come back, there might be a spot for him next season, because the Caps are going to have to start figuring out ways to replace his production.

You get internet included with your cable? I just pay Xfinity for internet. It's another $100-120+ if I want the cable tv as well. At the moment, just pay for internet and hulu+espn+ package. Covers everything I need to watch. Well, it did anyway. Bought ready to go back to cable or satellite. Streaming is about as much, if not more than cable, which was the whole reason for cutting the cord in the first place. Plus it doesn't matter how fast your internet is, streaming has about a 1 minute delay to "live" tv. Which makes watching sports and chatting about it on message boards a pain in the ass sometimes, cause shit happens before streamers see it. I always switch to the antenna if the Skins, or someone Im watching, are on network tv.

Cable tv and internet are the same exact connection to the house. So either way I’m stroking a monthly check to comcast. I’ve got far too many trees that I’m unwilling to cut down for dish or starlink. From what I’ve read, starlink can work through the trees, but not reliably.

Mick, if it comes to it, you can get Monumental subscription directly thru internet and it has all the Caps games (well all the ones that they broadcast). I think its $20/month, but never pursued it cuz didn't have to.
Alta - I have Starlink. Its is phenomenal. I can't get cable or fiber where I am located, but i have been more than impressed with Starlink. We have 8 people currently living in our house and are streaming 2, 3, 4 different streaming services at a time, plus computers, plus phones, and its never let us down. I live in the woods, surrounded by trees, but it is clear around the house so i have a clear sky view from the roof.
$120/month for Starlink and it is unlimited and we've so far failed to ever have an issue or overwhelm it even with multiple multiple users on it all at the same time. I can run a gaming laptop at same time my son is, while we are watching a streaming movie, while my wife is working remotely, while my other son is streaming another program, with 8 smartphones connected, with prob 4 of them watching tiktok for hours on end (or some other nonsense).
My in-laws moved in with us couple years ago (Lawd help me) and they had DirecTV and wanted to keep it so they pay for DirecTV. With Starlink I wouldn't pay for it DirecTV, but we have it so i watch the games on DirecTV. When we have storms, the DirecTV goes out, but it switches over to internet (wifi) connection thru the Starlink wifi router and basically streams thru the Starlink.
So, yeah, Im a Starlink fan because it worked so well for us.

Yea, satellite is a pain anytime there's a thunderstorm around. Only good thing about it, is if there's a power outage, (like down here in a hurricane, might be out for a week) you can use a generator and still get Satellite TV, when cable/internet/etc are all out.
Rich, Im looking into getting Monumental+.. Gone fishin till Sunday, so will get on it when I get back!
