GDT #61 Caps vs Senators SOW 5-4
richkrt99:
Great 1st period. Full of energy, scoring chances, hitting, SOG (ahem...try this all game dummies)
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Honestly thought we were the better team, but there were stretches of both. WAY too many BS penalties.
went to OT, and somehow we survive, then shootout.
I have no problem, with PLD in SO, but FFS when Carlson came out, I lost it and was cursing the stupidity. Carlson actually had a bad game to boot. He totally missed his man on the 3rd goal (i think), giving them a 2 on 1 and forcing other D to move over which led to pass, shot, goal. He couldn't hit the net on most of his shot attempts and he was suspect on D and slow to get back ...OFTEN. I was starting to wonder if he was nursing something (other than his sore vagina) cuz his game has been shit for the last little while.
I was calling out my SO lineup before they started and it BEGINS with McMIKE. Kid was all over the ice, driving the play, scoring, assisting, and HE doesn't eve get a sniff in SO? That's a head scratcher. Carlson should never ever ever ever be in the SO.
I will gladly skulk away with those 2 points.

Good one Rich! Carlson has been lousy going back to before the break and he is awful in the shootout. You would think that they would practice the shootout occasionally and stop picking the wrong guys. I can see rewarding guys for having a good game, but they should not have Carlson, or Ovi for that matter, in any shootout. It should have been McMike, Chychrun and Protas.

They really should have lost this game. Ottawa seemed to have more legs and the better chances. We insist on standing around in front of our own goal like so many telephone poles in our own end. You have to be on the puck carrier always in all zones, including on the PK. We have long stretches where we're way too passive both in our skating and hitting. This won't go very far come playoff time.
I also can't figure out this fascination with Carlson. He's out there on the PP, the PK, almost all of OT and then he's used in the SO. Makes no sense.

Go back and watch Ottawa's first goal. Carlson was downright comical. That he's our ice time leader makes me question the coaches.

Is it bad that I’m secretly hoping Carlson gets a career ending injury this season? Nothing that effects his daily life, but something that won’t let him play at the NHL level anymore.
