Chyckrun could very well end the season with 20 goals and somebody may drop big money on him - maybe $8M x 5. He is clearly the heir apparent to Carlson if he wants to be here. Carlson signed an 8 year deal for $8M/year that runs through next year. Just think if they had made that a 7 year deal, it would have transitioned perfectly to Chyckrun - which now that you compare him to Carlson, he might command more than that in the market - maybe $9M per year. There may be something about him however, that holds teams back a bit. He does hog the puck a fair amount while he looks to take his shot - which I love - but he may break the "pass-first" code that seems to have taken over the NHL. Maybe that ticks off some of his teammates, but he seems to be well liked here.
