Yeah.  I was expecting a challenge.   Lindy continues to be leaky nonetheless.

Surrey, watching the game summary, I really don't see what he could have done on any of those goals.  Lots of tips, pucks bouncing around to players, pucks off of skates, etc.  Sometimes the bounces seem to set up for one team, and sometimes both.  Last night was one of those games where conditions were right for scoring both ways.

Scoring is up in the league overall, I think because of a combination of tighter limits on goalie equipment, emphasis on offensive ingenuity and skill, and rules that prevent players from getting beaten up in the slot/crease.  Goalies can't cover every angle at once that a shot might come from, and a lot of these goals are getting scored on redirects/tips, quick passes across seams in the defense, etc.  It's the type of thing that can be coached into a team against a particular opponent with enough looks at video to see what systems teams are playing and where the weak points/seams are.  Last night both teams were struggling to contain the opposition, and it happened to be the Caps who scored the extra goal - but either team could easily have won that game.  One could argue that the difference was Lindgren's one fabulous stop in the middle of the game.

Mickstix:
Incredible come back win again!! That PLD hustle play to negate the late icing was awesome! I agree with Ice, Chucky was doing fine! Those redirects are just about impossible to stop. Can't defend crazy bounces and deflections with any regularity. The save where he got over (Just like Wilsons goal from the day before) and made the stop, was 11 Bell!!

They do need to find a way to resign Chychrun. 26 years old and makes 4.6m (UFA).. He's gonna get paid by somebody. I don't know what our cap situation is, but I'd be shopping Roy 5.75mx6 or Sandin 4.6x5 to get it done, if needed. Plus we're gonna be paying a goalie.

The Protas contract looks like a deal of the century at the moment. Locked down for 3.37m x 5.

We were great in the offensive end but not so hot in our own end and the PK wasn't too good.  They started getting flat footed at times, especially in the 3rd and were sucking back on Lindgren too much.  Not enough physicality, either.  You've got to take guys out and keep that slot area clear.  We were allowing way too much traffic in there.  They let Hughes dipsy-do in our end way too easily as well.  He's a good player but a small guy.  Flatten him a few times and he'll think twice about waltzing around like he does.  I do miss Orlov's open ice hits. Overall, the team is playing great but they aren't physical enough.

Good idea on moving Roy to get Chychrun done. I like Roy, and he has been steady, but is replaceable. I'd still like to see them get Alexyev into the lineup.  The problem now with Chychrun now is that he is almost certainly going to test free agency.  He has paid his dues getting passed around and now he is going to hit the jackpot if he keeps playing like this. I could see him getting a 7 years at $9.5.  We won't be able to do that with Ovi still on the books next year and Carlson.  Boy, I love Chychrun though!

Wayne - totally agree. While our D has been good, they are by no means a lock-down defense. TVR is interesting to me. Some games he plays great and is one of the top guys. Other games, he is just awful.   I'd like to see them swap in Alexyev from time to time.  They need to decide if he is here long term or not. It would be great if he got way more physical with his big body and I think they could coach him that way if they wanted to.

I have to say Sandin has been excellent this year and you can see his confidence rising each game.

Roy has been very solid, but has not been near as physical as I thought he would be. I thought he was going to be an enforcer for us as well and I don't think he has dropped the gloves yet.
