Ovie might need 30 empty netters if he hopes to get the record this year.  He's probably looked worse than anybody out there so far.  Good to see them looking more like a hockey team again, though.

I agree.  I did not like Carlson the first 5-6 years, then he turned a corner at one point and became a solid player, then he had upswing in scoring, etc.  He is still no Norris candidate to me, but he is solid and reliable and plays in EVERY situation.  I just always wanted him to have more snarl for his size, but its not his game.  Carlson is one of our most reliable D-men in all situations so he gets the ice time. There is also the factor that the reliable stable D man they brought in (Roy) has been out for several games, AND there have been tons of PP and PK time.  I think once the whole team gets in sync, Carlsons minutes will drop on average.  He will still likely lead the team in ice-time because he plays in ALL situations.
I don't see any reason you cant put Chychrun out there for the PP or the PK, he certainly can move and shoot the puck.  Roy could be a PK guy too.  That would shave some Carlson minutes as well.  Part of it depends on the pairings as well so...we shall see.

FWIW - I think Chychrun has been outstanding, and he is only 26...(which is only a year older then Fehevary and Alexeyev).  They only have him on a 1 year deal at the moment, but he looks damn good so far.

Mickstix:
Never minded Carlson's game as much as I minded his salary. He's in his golden years now though, so criticism has faded. He's an OG and does fine, stays healthy and minimizes the "Dylan" mistakes. They've said repeatedly on the telecasts he's getting all those minutes again due to Roy being injured. He (apparently) started skating again yesterday and should be ready to go sometime next week!

I actually think Ovi has become a liability on the PP.  They just overload to prevent his shot and then we are stuck just passing it around the edges.  Although Ovi is an excellent passer, he is slow and not the best guy for a quick passing sequence or skating with the puck. It is a big problem and I bet if Carburry could do what he wanted (especially if the team keeps winning and becomes more of a contender), he would take Ovi off the PP.  Of course they will never do that.

Mickstix:
Yea, his office is once again needing remodeled. Him and Carlson covering the blue line is also playing with fire. I think they were trying some new stuff early on this year. Ovi was parking in the crease, hoping/looking for tips and rebounds? But they've went back to the norm the last couple games. And have gone O-fer since..

But I'd rather them put him down low and let someone else cover the "office" areas. He'll drag at least one defender down with him and won't have to worry about skating 150' to cover a break the other way. Whatever they do, they need to do something. PP looks like  :poop: currently.
