Mangiapane actually scored 35g couple years ago in Calgary. He's supposed to be a top 6 guy. I think he's just on the third because they have Protus on line 1 currently. Mangi's making top 6 money - $5.8 mil. That, and the 3rd line needs some help for sure. I think I'd move McMike to 3c and Protus down to 2 and put Mangi on top line, but hell its working at the moment so why F it up. McMike is working well on wing - his game is better this year.
3rd line def needs something though. Vranna on wing and Lappy at 3c isn't driving much play and they certainly are not a shut down line, and there's no meat on that line at all - too easy to get pushed off the puck. Vranna needs to get his ass in gear and move up to a scoring line or he's gonna be sitting. He's not gonna thrive on line 3. I think Protus is better suited for L3, but he is balancing out Ovi's play on L1...SOMEONE has to ge into the corners and work for the puck...put Vranna up there and Strome would be the only hard working guy on the line.
Lindy looked good last night. We gonna need both goalies with 13 frigging pairs of back to back games this season. Caps have 5 weeks in a row with back to back games starting in November, then 1 week without, then 3 weeks in a row with back to back games again. I think that will take its toll and we gonna need that extra D man.
I'm a little surprised they haven't gotten Alexeyev in a game yet. Sitting him aint doing him any good.
Nice win overall. Flyers aint great, but they have speed and they never stop coming, and you can't let up.
