Not an ideal season opener, but NJ just played their 4th game. They are at game speed. The Caps are not at game speed, plus, they have seven new guys that I fully expected to take several games for everyone to get on the same page. They only have 81 games left to achieve that.

Decent game. NJ is a fast, skilled team. Willie was skating well and a couple of the new guys looked good, but hard to tell much on one game. Would have liked to see some more checking, but that is just wishful thinking these days. I did actually see Carly hit a guy once, so he has already hit is quota for the year! Sorry, cheap shot - especially since he had a pretty good game.

Ho-hum. It wasn't terrible. I did see Ovi blow up dudes more than a couple times, but other than that...not much.
Lindy looks...like Lindy. He goes down too early and tries to scramble on his belly. I've never seen another netminder do that. I'd like one of those goals back...and that would be a tie instead of chasing a lead at the end. Not blaming him, but he could have been better. I think Thompson might give us a better shot.
SO three of the guys we need to rely on to score actually scored so that's good. (Carlson, Strome, Willy)
Pepperidge Farm needs to remember there is someone waiting to take his spot...I will be surprised if Vranna doesn't get it for the next game.
Any update on Matt Roy? I think he's one of our steadies on D, but we do have Alexeyev and Macilrath both waiting for a sweater.
