Oh look, the Canes CAN be beat at home. Vs a team that plays very similar to us..  ::) Only (noticeable) difference I saw was their shots had elevation/accuracy. Our shots all scoot along the ice into the goalie pads. Whatever.. Go Cats.

The Canes didn't get much of a test against the Caps and that will hurt them. Look for a Florida sweep again.  I would like that except Marchand is now on Florida.

Florida has the blueprint for playoff success.  Their guys are mostly big, physical and mobile.  They're also endlessly aggressive on the puck at both ends of the ice all game.  The Caps should take some notes.  Ekblad, Mikkola, Kulikov, Jones and Forsling are all better than any Caps d-man.  We need major retooling throughout if we plan on being any type of contender in the next few years.

The Caps are supposed to be physical but when you watch Florida you realize how un-physical they really are.  Ovie, Wilson, Duhaime and Fehervary are the only four guys who would fit on the Panthers roster.

Yep - I;ve been saying the same thing for years.  Its always amazing to me how all the TV analysts are so lazy and just repeat the same thing - that we are a big, heavy team.  If they ever watched any games they would know that we get pushed around by aggressive teams and besides the players you mentioned, are actually very soft.

Panthers certainly didn't seem to struggle scoring against Canes smothering style of play.
Panthers are way better team, more talent, bigger and play tougher.  They know how to elevate their style to playoff hockey and it shows.  They also appear to be peaking at the right time - they didn't look this good in round 1

After that Florida/Carolina game, this Dallas/ Edmonton game is about to put me to sleep.

and with that it picks up a bit in the 2nd

Considering I was pulling for Edmonton, to win, its a good thing I fell asleep.  If The Oilers don't get their  :poop: in order McDavid is leaving the minute he's a free agent.  Part of me would love for him to sign with The Caps but I don't see that happening. 😥

Oof.  I watched the 3rd.  I want Edmonton to win, but damn they need a solid goaltender.  He's fine for 90% of the time then just unreliable.  Not bad, not terrible, just doesn't make the timely saves when you need him to.  He does play very small in net.  usually beat over one shoulder or the other - too much net exposed.
3 PPG's in like 5 minutes - not blaming goalie for any of them but damn.... I'm curious how many shots he faced in the time spanning those three goals.  Not many.  5 unanswered goals in the third period on 11 shots.  Reminded me of another team I used to watch...only they got tossed from the playoffs.
Dallas goes 75% on the PP; 3 goals in 4 PP.  FFS - Edmonton gonna have to put McDavid and Draisaitl out on the PK or something.
McDavid is something else to watch with his skating and puck movement, and Draisaitl is just a goal scoring machine - dude scores from everywhere.
It's comical how easy it is for Edmonton to break into the o-zone on the PP - McDavid just flies in there.  Makes it all the more painful watching the Caps struggling over and over just to get into the zone.  Watching these elite teams really does show how far the Caps are from competing at this level.
