Ok good. I was like come on man....BUT they (bally sports) made it very difficult to watch blues games (yes here in STL!!!) So alot of posters don't chime in bc, well, they cant.
Technically it was interference because the player did interfere with Wilson making a play on the puck carrier. Even though...I think neither Wilson or the penalized guy really intended on the contact. It's kind of BS either way, but technically correct. (I don't like it any more than you, but its what we had here last week)
Basically the guy set a pick and it allowed his teammate to skate away from Willy. Although I don't think it was 100% intentional. Usually you see this called on a D man down low where he impedes a player from going down around the net to attack the other D man.
My opinion is it was an unnecessary call. However....IF the Blue carrying the puck had gone consequently skated in, shot and scored a goal....and Willy was interfered with, then.....you should have made the call, and you can go back an make it after the fact, so.....
That penalty call doesn't bother me that much compared to about 1/2 of them these days.
