He really does look bad. He has 3 non-empty net goals in 20 games. That's horrid. After 42 last year, to look like this is pretty shocking. He may simply have had it, unfortunately. If he gets 12-15 for the season, he should retire rather than embarrass himself playing another 3 years trying to catch Gretzky.
Sadly, catching Gretzky doesn't seem to be on his list of things to do. He's caught the "pass first" bug that has afflicted our team for so long, especially on the PP.
Remember those good old days, not so very long ago, when he used to have two Dmen on him? Those days are gone.
Previously, when he got hit or checked, they would bounce off him and hit the ice. A few games ago behind the net, it wasn't even that hard a hit and he crumpled like a dried flower.
If it was an injury, a niggle even, surely he would be sat? At least not playing every game.
It's got to be a head thing, imho. Somebody mentioned a short while ago that he wasn't over his dad's death. Maybe he's got stuf going on at home?
Whatever it is, he's lost that fire in his belly and it's tragic to see.
