Strome leads the team in goals with 10, OV leads the team in points with 15. The league leader in goals is Boeser with 18. League wide, OV isn’t in the top 100 of points. The Caps are 32nd in goals scored with 54. The leader is Vancouver with 103.

Well I guess when historic goal leader who has led the team in goals every year for ...18 years just doesn't score goals anymore...you going to have an issue.  Doesn't help that at least 2/3 of the top 6 are also NOT scoring goals regularly either.
Wilson and Strome are about the only guys pulling their weight.  McMike is also, but wasn't expecting 30 out of him.  Love to see him get 25 this year.  Mantha should be giving more, but hell after the last five years, I'd be satisfied with 25g from him.
0 from Backy / 1 from Oshie / 5 from Kuzy / 5 from Ovie doesn't add up to enough goals for 4 topline guys.  The four of them alone probably shorted us 35 goals so far this year.
We expected some drop off, and backy was certainly a question mark, but certainly not the total drought we've gotten.

Earlier in the season when the Caps had a game on TNT, Lundqvist said on air you gotta give a new coach 12-15 games to get the team situated. Yesterday was game 23. Still a lot of hockey to go this season and they are still well within the playoff hunt.

Caps are 3rd in the metro, one point behind Pilly with two games in hand. Pilly plays Nashville on Tuesday, Caps are in Pilly on Thursday.

Back to back weekend games 23 hours apart with overnight travel and then three fn days off then 1 road game, then 1 day off with another road game immediately followed by travel and another back to back 22 hours later?  6 games in 8 days in 5 cities including 2 back to backs with travel between every game.  And another back to back next week.  That's a lot of games and travel for anyone, much less this merry band of geriatrics.

I'm convinced Leonsis or someone in Caps organization seriously pissed off the NHL (prolly when we ended precious shitssberg's chance of a 3-peat in 2018) and they constantly get a rough schedule because of it.  It would be different if some of these were make-up games due to ice or schedule, but these were all planned out in advance.
I know we've played less games than almost all teams, so we due for a rough stretch, but who the F made the schedule for the first two months that way to begin with?

Fuck the NHL.  Go win another Cup when nobody wants you to Caps.

I was just looking at how many RFA/UFAs the Caps need to resign after this season. Primarily the RFAs. That $5M cushion Backy gifted the team will be gone. The only bright side is Mantha. He will be a UFA and he’s currently $5.7M per. If the Caps keep him it should be at a reduced rate, or, he will free up $5.7M. And Pacs is a UFA after this year, but that’s only $2M.

Bear is 26, so that would be a plus. But who do you cut? On the right side Carlson(33), Jensen(33) and TvR(32) all have two more years of contract at $8M, $4M and $3M respectively. It appears Bear hasn’t played yet this season, but he made $2M last season.
