Kuznetsov and his 6 goals is embarrassing. Gustafsson and Carlson have more. Hell, TVR and Fever have 4 each. Fucking Defensemen. lol It's pathetic for a team that can't score goals. Strome has nearly doubled him, at less than half the salary.

Mantha gets scratched for games in a row, shows up and plays 1 hard/mad shift then backs into bushes out of sight, like that homer simpson gif. Sad man.. Too many passengers on this team as usual.

If they're gonna play shit D for over half the game, they need to average 4 goals to have a chance. That's a tall order with this roster and the healthier it gets, the worse it looks, unfortunately.

I was thinking the same thing. We just looked like a lot faster team without those two guys.  Plus Willy isn't skating well yet so that hurts our team speed.

Halfway hustles pretty good too.  I guess when you are lacking in some of the skill or size areas you have to make it up with effort to even get in the league so those guys have hustle and effort ingrained in their being.  Wish they could rub some of that shit off on Kuzy and Mantha, and such.

Exactly right!! I think the Caps management and scouting over the years has failed to value the guys that have the absolute desire to win at all costs. The ones that would run over their mother to knock one in the net. Other than a few guys, we have had the core of this team with a pretty passive approach. Obviously, that does not include Ovi.

I almost posted earlier how FEW guys on this team have 10 goals...and that KUZY has only 6.  Kuzy has 34 assists, but that dude NEEDS to score goals in order for this team to win more regularly.
NOBODY on this team is even close to 20 except for the Great 8.

Ovi      31
Sheary   12
Mojo      12
Strome  11
Dowd     10
Oshie     10
Mantha  9
Milano    8
Carlson   8
Eller      7
Gustaff  7
Hathy    7
Kuzy     6

Backy and Wilson obviously get a pass, and I'd expect 20+ out of each of them normally, so there's that, but... Still.

Jensen has 64 shots in 50 games and ONE goal.
Carlson has 8 goals on 101 shots.

Our total team D has 27 goals on 471 shots - in 50 games.  I realize many shots are deflected or become assists, but FFS, 27 goals in 50 games (more than 300 man games) from the D?  That's pathetic.

Sad thing is, this team really doesn't have any young superstar talent...even in the works.  Maybe that Russian kid - Marishino (let's just call him Cherry), but he's years away yet.
I mean what young guys do we have in the system that will be realist top line guys in the next year or so?

Ovi is barely/right at a pace to get 50.  WTF would/will this team do without him?

Hey...on the bright side, WE been saving it up for Shittsburgh.  We gonna stomp the shit out them.

Mickstix:
Yea, Kuzy with a projected 10 goals for the "season" and a shit PP = L anytime you're not playing Cbus or Colorado. There will be a couple games Charlie or Kuemper will bail us out and couple more where we'll get good bounces or something, but any long term winning with this current group is a pipe dream.

I think Kubel and Protas could be future top 6 for us. If Protas could improve his shooting the way he improved his skating, last offseason, he could be a real gem imo. I just like Kubel's game. Not sure he's skilled enough, but his skating and puck handling are on point. Who knows, what else are we gonna do? It's all hittin' the pipe at this point. (see what I did there)  :raspberry:
