Oddly enough, that lineup doesn't look all that bad.. If we could rid ourselves of the Backstrom, Oshie and Carlson salaries we could actually ice a competitive hockey team.

Yeah, but what kind of talent can you really get for a measly $17.95mil?
And if you add in Hags 2.75 and Brown 3.6  you only have $24.3 mil to spend 8)


In all honesty though, Caps only get cap relief from guys on LTIR - which for now is Backy, Hags, & now Brown....so a mere $15.55m (unless of course Oshie gets moved to LTIR)

based on what the coach has said, Oshie is out for a majority of the season. Why they haven’t listed him as LTIR I can only guess is they haven’t needed to, yet. Per nhl salary cap rules.
