That's pretty much what we're gonna get for the foreseeable future. Hopefully staying around .500 till we can get some bodies back. Even then it's gonna be a struggle with Carlson not knowing how or wanting to play defense. And it's hard to replace Nick Backstrom.. Feels like we're all out of "super" stars. We just have a couple old, highly paid "stars" now.

Caps have been allowing 3.42 GA per game.  That's too many.  Figures on a night when they slow it to 2 GA we can't score ANY.
I didn't see the game (well 75% of it), but allowing only 2 GA with this defense is about all you can ask of Kuemper....or Lindberger or whoever.
Especially when the Norris guy is good for at least one assist to the OPONENT per game.


Sadly, I think this is about par for what this team will do.  About 50/50


Carlson is having an off month.  He does that - some good months some bad months.  They utilize him so much that when he's having an off night/week/month - it really shows.


When we have nights when the puck just doesn't go in ....we gonna lose.


Also....Dallas is the best team in the West  5-2-1.
They have allowed a total of 15 Goals in 8 games.  That is the stingiest team GAA in the entire NHL.


Hopefully we'll fair better vs Nashville who is playing closer to our level.

Other then the 2 Ovi cross bars, the Caps didn't even scare the Dallas goalie. We really don't have much 5v5 unless it's the grinders getting one. Ovi, Oshie and Kuzy make very little noise if it's not on a PP. (And we've not even been using Kuzy on PP1) Mantha sometimes can get a good look 5v5. Other then that it's Sheary creating with speed or something along those lines. Our top 6 doesn't control the puck worth a shit. Kuzy always wants to pass 1st. Ovi is always doubled or covered. Oshie is, well.. He can still throw a hit and make a play every now and then. Similar to Nicky last year. They just lack horsepower on the top lines. Mantha seems like he's stepped it up a little but he's not very consistent, unfortunately. Just is what it is I guess..

yep, the season is lost.. with only 74 games left until the playoffs start


Getting Willy back will help, but I’m not concerned. Yet. Just remember, every time this squad coasted into the playoffs points wise, they failed. The one time they had to fight their way in it ended fairly well as I recall.
