The Caps placed Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Lucas Johansen, Henrik Borgstrom and Brett Leason on waivers. If no one else claims them by 2:00pm , they will be sent to Hershey. Backy, Willy, Hags and Alex Alexeyev have been placed on IR. Teams need to be down to 23 active players by 5:00pm today.

Im not a big fan of road racing anyway, but that "roval" is a shit show. It's made for go-karts or Mazda Miata's or something. And next year they'll have that one plus a shit show street race in Chicago. :clown: :poop:

Not a huge fan of road racing either, but Watkins Glen and some of the more established road courses don't bother me as much as this Roval and the road course they've put inside other speedways [Daytona, Indy]. I guess from the fan in the stands experience it's nice that you can see the whole track, but it's just too gimmicky for me.
It was relative calm for 99% of the race, then it was all hell breaking loose at the end. hate that Larson, probably the best driver out there isn't moving on, but kind of cool that a kid like Bell throws a hail mary, wins, and moves on.

I figured Axel was to be one cut - just hadn't seen much from him this year. Borgstrom not a surprise either or Leason. Borgrstrom we just picked up over the summer, no?
I think Protus's play this camp and preseason dictated the Borgstrom waiver move. Borgy is a center with decent size - I would not be surprised if someone grabs him - although I know absolutely nothing about his play other than looking at his stats - he is only 25 and has 100+ NHL games played and he was a 1st round pick. A little odd we sign him as a UFA and then put him on waivers, but I definitely thought Protus was a standout this early season - hard not to be with his size.
I'm a little surprised Lucas Johansen was waived over Irwin, but Lavvy really has history with Irwin and he seems a real decent fellow. Also I read Alexeyev is on IR and will be back so they will need room for him - so I figure Lucas is backseat to ALexeyev anyway.
I'm a little surprised I guess that Snively made the cut. He skates well and made some noise last year, but I would think Borgstrom might have a bigger upside. Snively is a little undersized, and he is 26 so his time is now (or never)
Tough decisions, but good problems to have. We have quite a few guys in the pipeline that could evolve into full time NHL guys - assuming they clear waivers

So if another NHL team claims a guy off waivers - does that team have to keep him on their NHL roster for a certain period?

Based on what we’ve seen very recently, I’d say no. The Caps have waived guys only to get them right back in a trade.
