In the salary cap world the best move in the Caps situation is to trade Holtby after the season. I've always liked him but if you can get close to the same level of play from Gruby for half of the money and also have samsonov waiting in the wings, that's the smart decision in this day and age. If the caps could somehow pick up Ristolainen and have enough money to resign Carlson, they'd be back to being a true contender instead of a pretender like they are this year.
