That's the sound of the Caps backing into the playoffs as the Isles lose last night.
But that's really not fair, of course. Given the team's inherent limitations and the injury/illness issues they've had this season, this team has performed as well as or better than could have been expected. Things don't look especially promising for the playoffs, but hey, punch your ticket, get on the ride, and see where it takes you .....
That's a pretty good summary of my feelings of this team....they actually have performed better than I expected this year with all the glaring weaknesses. The D has really looked better than I expected. TVR has been so much better than I would have credited him for and Jensen looks downright like a top 4 D. Fever has been magnificent, but I actually hoped he would be this year. Orlov is usually pretty solid, but even he has seemed to lower the total bonehead giveaways he is typical of. Of course, having said all that.....our GAA is pretty atrocious, but I think that has been a whole team factor and GT factor as much as specifically our D.
I think maybe the only guy on the team that has been a real disappointment this season is Backy. The two question mark GT are to me both still big

Ovi has been more productive than expected and Kuzy looks like...well the Kuzy that can be. Mantha has impressed me with this speed and stick skill - I did not know he had the skills. Willy...just downright dominates the ice - really wish the NHL would just let him play - he'd be even more dominate .
I think we get handed our lunch come any serious playoff contender, but who knows. Pray one of our GT has a "hot-goalie" playoff streak is his very near future.
